We will be heading back to the UK in december and i am toying with the idea of getting me and my son vaccinated.

A question really for those that have had the injection, does it make you ill for a short while? With flu like symptoms.

My lad suffered quite badly with his chest in england but has been fine here. I'd hate to think we got over there and was ill all holiday.

Thanks, might have to go get it done. No doubt my lad who is allergic to lots of things will be worse off with the injection than he is with swine flu

For the swine flu vaccine you are given info sheet to read, then a health history form the nurse fills out after questions, stuff like allergies, health problems should come up if not mention them.

Some people are also given weight, blood pressure etc checks, we didnt need them. You also sign the form and get a small slip to say you have had vaccine. We were advised to carry the slip overseas.

Trouble is i'm not sure what he is allergic too. sometimes i find out when its too late.

He once had some dye injected into a kidney so they could do a scan and that knocked him for six and another time he had tablets for a suspected fractured skull and they made him go all blotchy and his ears and lips swelled up.

I wonder if the UK hospital he was treated at would be able to supply that information.

I wont be having it, nor will my children. I think the reason we are getting all of these new viruses (?sic?) is because of all the vaccines we have already, our own immune systems just can't cope with anything new. We've never had the Flu vac and (touch wood) never had flu either.
Unless your at high risk i'd say let your own immune system fight it.

I thought vaccinations were invented so you didn't have to have your own immune system fight it.

What benefit wil there be to my son in letting his own immune system handle it

Vaccines contain agents that "boost" your natural immunity to a disease.... when your vaccinated against flu for example your injected with usually a weakened form of the flu. this kick starts your immune system which builds up "fighter cells", your immune system then remembers exactly what was needed to irradicate that form of the flu... next time you get that same flu your immunine system kicks in and fights it off before it can cause any major illness.
The problems is that as with many diseases/viruses they mutate... so you may get a mutated dose of the flu you have been vaccinated against..
Personally i believe that because of all the vaccines we have throughout life our immunie system stops working effectively. Hence the new strains of Flu: Swine, Bird etc MY opinion only and the reason we wont be having the 'jab'

"THE White House says President Barack Obama has declared swine flu a "national emergency", as the United States reels from millions of cases of infection and over 1000 deaths.
The emergency declaration, signed by the president late on Friday, enhances the ability of medical treatment facilities to handle a spike in influenza A(H1N1) patients by allowing them to implement emergency plans thanks to federal requirement waivers."

Obviously its spreading around the USA. Anyone on a plane would find it hard to miss I guess.

[QUOTE=spartacus;8042899]Anyone contemplating a flu jab should have a look at this first.

And anyone contemplating their daughters having the HPV vaccine should also have a look at the personal videos on YouTube.

As I just posted about Human papaloma virus from information I have read it causes infertility in women and therefore unless one is going to save their virginity there is no guarantee that one will not get the virus. May not get cancer but also may not get kids.
