Swine Flu Vaccination

We got offered the vaccine through work a few weeks ago. Then they recalled all the batches of vaccine cos they've got latex in them! Glad I declined the offer!

I got mine done last week. I'm still here.
The nurses really want to see teens, young adults and anyone who mixes with children - they are the most vulnerable yet most likely to believe they won't succumb.

I got mine done last week, still alive as far as I can tell
Teens also got it, as we will be in UK and SIngapore nov/dec/jan.
I dont know why people are worried about their children getting it, its not approved yet for anyone under age 10.

No thanks. I never get flu shots anyway...I've only had the flu once in the past 10 years--that one I can clearly recall back in '99 because it was so miserable. And I've been on campus at university in large lecture halls all winter long and taught classes 3x a week as well during those years (no, I'm not a slow learner, multiple degrees).
It's not just the germ, it's the terrain, right?

Still haven't made up my mind. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and so am in the "at risk" group. But I wouldn't ordinarily get a flu jab, also because it can't protect you from every strain out there so what's the point? I have had very bad flu's over the years, one very winter and summer for all of my teenage years so I know it's no picnic.
Also had a nasty attack last June but local clinic said not to come in unless you had a temp which I did not. They were super busy at the time. My Dr did say he highly recommended it but didn't question him about it as I was sure I wasn't going to get it but i've since googled it and have seen pregnant women in the states have died and miscarried because of it. But isn't that the same risk with other flus? See, i'm really going to have to go talk to a midwife about it. Best make appointment with her.

That's a bloody good point Louise! Hadn't thought of that. I'll still discuss with the midwife but how can you argue with that? My toddler is all up to date with her vaccinations but they are tried and tested, this one is so new as are all the seasonal jabs I suppose. And why no approval for under 10's? V odd indeed.

My mum who is 90 and me had ours on Monday and did not even get a red mark on the arm. Nothing happened at all.
Quite a few pregnant women at my docs surgery were getting it done.
I believe in vaccination as the bad old days can return its just that we are so used to thinking medicine can fix it if things go wrong, well that is wrong they cannot always fix it so if it can be prevented I take that course. Been a few deaths here in Vic and seems it can affect young people more than the older ones.

I have had flu twice in 50 years and both times felt like I had been poleaxed.. still can't be bothered getting a jab though.

In Germany it depends on where you works as to which vaccination you can get.
