While sending enquiries worked for you it's really like comparing apples to oranges.

You also applied for a different visa type, Pam. The 457 is generally a lot quicker than a 175/176 and you are not from a "high risk" country. Generally you can expect a 457 within a short period of time and would probably have some contact with the case officer. On a skilled visa the processing is at least 6 months (longer for high risk applicants) and case officers are far too busy to communicate with applicants directly. It's all done via generic emails.

We had to do the same as PamE. Waited until the stated period for processing had elapsed and then politely asked if there was a problem with the application. It was exactly the same scenario as now. The 475 had a technical issue and all grants were suspended for a couple of months which put the 475 team behind schedule. Only this information was not made public until after the event so people - understandably - were asking what the problem was.

PamE is on a 475 not a 457

Apologies, Pam.

It might shock you to find out that moderators sleep, go to work and have lives outside of BE.
If you are offended by a post/thread you are more than welcome to report it via the report button. It's the small square one just to the right of the karma button.
And if you are unhappy with a moderator's actions/inaction you are more than welcome to take it up via private message with them and NOT in the open forum.

I know this forum is here to provide vital information for people, but that info can be diluted by too many posts from people who haven't got any patience. Surely that's evident from some of the posts on the immigration forum.

The gist I took from the original post was, stop sending unnecessary PLE's, posting about them, asking other people on the forum about them, posts wanting to know everybody's timeline, profession, visa type, HR or LR, how come he has a CO and my online visa was submitted 3 mins before him, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!

Secondly there was a spate of people trying to create division on the forum by nationality. BE has always followed a policy in the Immi forum of there being a thread for the applications each month. Suddenly people were starting threads that were so specific they were again pointless - such as "Only post on this thread if you are applying for visa type X from country Y during the month of May and you have 18 cats and a budgie." We therefore closed all those threads - we encourage people to post together and not divide applications by nationality.
The other upshot of this deluge of pointless questions and threads was that people with genuine concerns and queries actually stopped posting as their threads were being buried under a bunch of unanswerable enquiries about timelines. By removing and/or merging the senseless repeated questions we have managed to encourage people to return to the forum and are once again seeing sensible questions.
Obviously the PLE system is there for a reason, and a very good one. Its there so that people like Pam can enquire what is happening when there is a problem. It isn't there for people to abuse by sending repeated queries, taking COS from their work and thus slowing everything down. The sad thing is that while these impatient people sit pressing the send button because they can't think of any better way to fill their time, genuine queries like Pam's are getting sumbmerged under the rubble - the same as the genuine questions were in the Immigration forum. The danger is that if the system is abused too much it will be removed and we will find ourselves back in the old days - when you sent off your application and had no way of knowing what was happening until it was returned to you either as a grant or as a rejection.
I hope some of this explains stuff to people

You asked a public question on the forum, the Moderators job therefore is to answer it so that people can see it has been addressed. What you SHOULD have done in the first place was report the thread if you had a problem, with it, rather than complaining about moderators within the thread. Dorothy explained to you quite politely that we do not sit here all day reading every thread just in case we find something that needs attention. If you objected to it being where it was and reported it, it might have been moved a lot sooner.
If you wish to discuss further, take it up with a moderator by private message.

Is that what is meant by the term reverse racism ?
Or is it depravation of freedom of choice?
In seriousness I can see why some posters desire to start more distinctive threads based for example on country of application. As Dorothy pointed out the visa process for applicants from high risk areas can have a different footprint.
At what point do you draw the line on segregation of topics?
Do all ballshit threads in the Barbie get merged ? That would only leave one thread a day.
Do all employer sponsored topics get merged? No, of course it's not practicle or sensible.
I don't see the problem with individual threads breaking things down into smaller subject matter. Individuals can choose whether to read, respond or ignore the thread.

Well if you would like to return to the point at which every thread on the first page was a timeline thread you may have to start your own forum. BE is here to answer queries, not to house threads consisting of "Why can't you tell me if my visa will be granted on Tuesday week" bumped every hour because no-one can answer it.
Perhaps you might consider reading it again.
But to answer the extreme example you raise if there are that many posters interested in timelines perhaps looking into ways of satisfying their demand in some way would be a wise thing to do.
Your beligerance to the topic suggests you would prefer just to tell them to fark off.
