Hi,

also heading to QLD in the New year to Sunshine Coast North East 1 hour from Brisbane.
Registered with QNC with not too much problems at all they just sent me back a reference that had to be re-done on a letterhead(it just had a company stamp),the whole proccess took me about 3 months but that was mainly because of problems on my side from the South African nursing council.I qualified in UK though but they needed the most recent registering authorities input.Have not looked on internet for jobs as we already hold a business visa but would value any input from you ladies/gents regarding nursing job websites !

Regards
Shirley

Hi there,

I am a paeds nurse hoping to move out to Perth in April-ish (money and visa permitting!). Already have a job sorted out on Neonatal Intensive Care at King Edwards/Princess Margaret hospitals in Subiaco. I usually work in boarding schools or paeds emergency so NICU will be a big change for me - well, that and moving out there on my own!

Just trying to get NMBWA reg and the 457 sorted before I can get moving. Does anyone on here work in Subiaco already? If so, which places are good to live in but are easy to commute to and from?

Deb

Hi, I'm going to Sydney in January - Aneasthetics and Recovery! Worked Randwick 9 yrs ago and returning after a long and cold wait with 2 children in tow!
Can't wait! Visa is approved, flights booked, temporary accommodation sorted! I'm so excited!
Where abouts are you going kicking k?

Hi Helen,

How exciting i bet you cant wait, where will you be working? i have been offered a job at the RPA hospital on their gynae ward (gynae is my speciality) just waiting for my registration to come through, its taking forever.....

Did you enjoy working in Sydney? we are going on a working holiday visa with a view to working somewhere else in 6 months time?

That's how I started - on a workingholiday visa - ended up my 3 friends and i staying 2 yrs and another 2 are still there 10 yrs on!
Loved it and only came home for the wrong man!
Worked a few agency shifts in RPA - was ok, some parts old but didn't really get much more of a feel for it in the time i did.
You'll easily get sponsored if you want to stay longer and so many do!
I've lived here and there and back here again and I know it's heaps better for me out there! Can't wait!

oooh sounds good, we thought we would start with the working holiday visa - flexibility and hubbie only has a year before he is to old for the criteria! really looking forward to seeing what its like, was it a big jump working in the aussie hospitals compaired to the good old nhs??

Anywhere else anyone has worked that they would recommend

Not a big jump at all, some things are different - drug names all different trade names for example and rarely usethe generic ones like we do, and a few things the patients say like "could you get me a washer?" means a flannel - I thought they problems with plumbing!! In general it's fine though and patients tend to be interested in your story when they hear your accent!

Oter hospitals I've worked in a Prince of Wales public - Randwick, Prince of Wales Private - Randwick, North Shore - in the North Shore(!), St Vincents in Paddington. I thought all were ok, a lot more private hospitals which make for a nicer work environment!

I have a job in Paeds A&E in Brisbane, trying to get everything sorted...The chicken and egg thing driving me mad. My registration is taking a lifetime but our stuff has to be on a ship and gone by the end of the week (were using freedom shipping by the way)! I constatntly feel like I dont know what to do for the best, we have holiday visas sorted in case the $%& isnt through in time, we have one way flights booked and we've applied for a lovely apartment (waiting to hear about that), but I still dont have my reg or my visa!!

You cant 'half' decide to move tho can you??? We have our police checks and I have my statements of service and all my occupational health info and my new employer seems lovely, but Im still panicking. Does anyone else feel the same... And does anyone have information about Brisbane State High School??

Dont know whether Im coming or going We are going 7th Jan, but you know what I mean. Any up to date infor on QNC would be great.

Hey Simon and Shirl

Thanks very much for your advice and the number:-) I have been ringing them and each time I do they say that they are still working on Sept 29th, its been the same for about 4 weeks!! They cant be that slow surely?? Anyway the other problem I seem to be having is that they first recieved my stuff on 3rd Oct but my method of payment wasnt what they wanted to so I sent them a visa card number which they used to take payment. Anyway I had to send all my paperwork back again with these new card details and now there saying they are going to take my application from the date they recieved them back which they say is the 22nd Oct. They would have got them back long before then anyway but now its seems each time I call they are still only processing 29th Sept's applications and I dont seem to be able to get any answers from anyone its so frustrating!!

Mich
