Many drugs, however, are becoming cheaper due to the fact that they are coming off patent and will be picked up by the generic manufacturers. Like Pfizer's Viagra for instance. That was their biggest seller.

I know one of them was told from their doctor that if they lost weight they would greatly improve their chances before they started IVF.
So given what I know from these cases I would say that, yes overweight people should not be able to get free IVF until they have shown some attempts at losing weight.

Exactly. Why throw away valuable health resources at people who just need to change their lifestyles? There is a large enough queue of people who have eliminated weight as a cause of infertility.
If someone spills over their seat they should pay more for an extra seat.
Lager and wine should be free on board.

We have two separate friends who went through all their "free" rounds of IVF with no luck. Once their free attempts were up they stopped. Both women then lost a considerable amount of weight, one was technically obese and the other was probably bordering on it. Anyway, shortly after they ended up conceiving naturally.

I am invoking the flight seating fairy right now for "no fat, smelly, brattish, annoying, licey, IVF failing, smoking, drinking, pooey nappied" "people" of any kind to be seated next to me on my imminent trip back to Blighty.
And its not because I have anything against any of those people..... it's because I am a selfish unsociable bitch and hate being sat next to anyone for any timespan of more than about 5 minutes.
I'm off to add up my Krisflyer and Altitude points to see if I've got enough for an upgrade.

Yesterday's flight was bliss. Me and a seven(ish) year-old at either end of four seats. She was better behaved than the adults around us, too.

Of course the secret to not being seated next to a fattie or a 'screamer' is to travel in a group.
If theres three of you you shoudl easily be able to bag a window row, if theres four of you you'll get a centre row. No drama....
If you're timing is particularly good as a couple you can bag some of the double seats at the very rear of the cabin - but these go FAST.
Of course if you travel alone then you're screwed and have to play 'random member of the flying public' lotto.
