Bernie is in for a treat when you arrive mate
I came straight off night shift so didn't sleep, and didn't get much the day before either
Bernie'll be fine cos I is perfect now, slept all the way from the moment I sat down - so now I'm just starving due to sleeping through all the meals

I saw on the news this morning something about airlines wanting to charge larger passengers that took up extra seats, more money for their airfare. I suppose we could argue should skinny people pay less, but in my opinion when you buy one seat, that is what you get and you should never expect someone to lift up the arm rest to allow their bodyweight to take up space you have paid for thus affecting your comfort.

Take up two seats, pay for two seats. Would you be happy to allow someone to take up your space on a flight?

Lager and beer passengers should not have to pay more.

Larger people should definitely have to pay more and not be fed while en route!

As for the health service, if large people want a tummy tuck or gastric band they should pay for it out of their own pocket (unless it was a natural obesity).

Why should infertile couples have to pay for IVF and other fertility treatments when fatties eat loads then want it surgically removed at slim tax-payers' expenses?

Same for me as well. I would rather sit with kids than people on this thread I have never come across such nasty comments regarding size maybe we should have sperate cabins for bald men or red heads or extra tal people or skinny people should only have half a seat and the airlins can put more people on thier flights

Never mind the space, what about the weight. It grieves me to be charged excess baggage when the fatties get away scott-free. However, in many parts of the World, on light aircraft, people are weighed with their baggage which should be the norm. Ryanair were talking about a "fat tax". I don't know if it was ever implemented:

Whilst I freely admit to refusing to lift my arm rest so a large person can take some of my space, at 12 stone I am hardly small and need my space for my own comfort as I have paid for it but I don't think anyone should be denied fertility treatment or any medical treatment because of their weight.

Making people pay for an extra seat because they use two is one thing but that is another entirely.

Why is there only one very narrow arm rest between seats? Is there protocol as to who gets the armrest, other than who's got the sharpest fastest elbows in the west?

Have to disagree on that one. Excess weight, of the obese kind, makes surgery more dangerous yet is not, in itself, life threatening. TheNHS was formed to treat diseases/conditions that were essentially life threatening. Cosmetic surgery(some exceptions), fertility treatment, gastric band ops etc should not IMO be funded by the NHS as the are not life threatening. Elective surgery:-pay yourself and for alcohol/smoking related diseases one chance only on the NHS (as they largely fund it) and then it's either lifestyle change or paliative care only.

Personaly I think the NHS in it's current form is living on borrowed time due to the increased variety and cost of drugs.
