Re: Share the pain
The difference between the Labour Government and the opposing parties is Labour are better liars, oh, and actors. They have everybody fooled, well, some people.
I'm not keen on any of the main parties, but one is more dangerous than others and in my opinion people ( the voters) need to break that mould. |

Garry provided you with an example of a lie, can you provide an example of Kevin Rudds lies? It's only fair if you want to debate with substance.
Yes, I probably could provide you with countless of his lies, but I have to ask myself, can I really be arsed? And the answer to that is, no, sorry. I'm sure you will revel in that reply. Fill your boots;) I've said what I need too. Like every political thread on any forum there will be those who agree and those who don't so nothing will ever be accomplished by such threads, but one has to stand up for ones beliefs. Eh nige?:D Goodnight all:wub: |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_tax#United_Kingdom The empirical evidence is that when a government can get away with taxing something, it tends to continue to do so. |
Re: Share the pain
I saw TV twice yesterday, once at the gym where Australias debt was only 30 billion and then by choice I was watching the the business channel where the debt was 350 billion.
Its like a comedy skit, oh bloody hell who knows?, so lets all just link arms put on a parrot green and canary yellow singlet and sing, "we are world class, worlds best you are evnviousssssss" |

Initial reports ( last week ) were one off, one year. It went to 4 quickly. Meanwhile.. While workers get a debt levy, one new crazy handout is a wedding gift from the Abbott ( the taxpayer) , of $2000 to newly weds. That's right, loved up people who spend more than that on a wedding cake or flowers get $2000 for marriage counseling. |
Re: Share the pain
Well Garry, which one of your lefty dribbles do I respond to? Throw the cards up and down came mining tax.
Yeah let's tax the mines. Yes let's tax the one industry that kept the country afloat during the GFC, let's tax the one industry that has the greatest risk of putting all eggs in the China basket, let's tax the one industry employing a vast amount of highly paid individuals whose high salary contributes a great degree of tax. Let's NOT allow mining to flourish - you know the more mining companies make, the more we can access to it in corporate tax. |

You know what Jad, it's a big worry for people like my family who were hoping to be better off there, when I say better off I'm talking financially of course.
Years ago when me and my husband first started looking into emergrating to Australia and the early days of our Visa route, Australia was a very different place, we are seriously having second thoughts now, I'm not sure if it's last minute nerves or the fact we are making a wise decision. It's a tough call. |

Dump the mining tax but as a condition, require the mining companies to keep on investing (which they are not doing at the moment) If we want to keep mining and LNG projects rolling, bring in a 'use it or lose it' rule on claims. If a mining company has rights and chooses not to develop, give them to a company that will |

Miners are not going to stop mining as long as the resources are there and they will still employ. Please don't suggest that Gina Rinehart kept the country afloat. That fails on so many levels. |
