Has anyone watched Total Recall (2012)?

Is it worth watching?

Not seen it yet - Travelling at the moment, so not sure if I will now. Looking forward to Dredd 3d though, and a new show launching next week called Revolution. Looks like some sort of post apocalypse thing. Will probably be good until it gets cancelled...

Total Recall has bad reviews (29% on RT).

However Looper, Dredd 3D and Cloud Atlas are getting good words - and come out soon.

Got shredded by most reviews. It did inspire me to watch the original that I have on DVD a week or so ago and I really enjoyed it. Consider that a divooorce!

I love the original. Absolutely NO need for it to be remade, but it looks like all of Paul Vearhoeven's movie's are getting this treatment...

I see you at da party Richter!

Its visually excellent, but has nowhere near the subtlety of the original, although there are a few nice little nods to it....its basically just a pretty bog standard action flick. Enjoyable enough on the big screen, nothing special.

Farrell does confused paranoia pretty well but with none of the quotables of Arnie. Beckinsdale, although comically bad at acting, is very tidy to look at.

Thanks All. Probably won't make a point of going to see it in a hurry then.

Are there any good sci fi TV shows (Aus, UK, US or elsewhere) doing their rounds these days? Fallen Skies series 2 is the only new-ish one that I'm aware of.

No, don't think I'll bother. Still like the original. :)

Watched it up to date, it's pretty good. Some dodgy acting but I find this is the norm for new tv stuff, takes a while for the actors to fit into a role.

I've watched the latest season up to episode 2 but have been left unimpressed by it. Will maybe watch episode 3 as a last chance

Walking Dead season 3 begins next month:

I tried this out this week and was left quite disappointed. The characterisation was totally cookie-cutter and flat, the story-line was predictable and unusually boring for a pilot. The main problem is the concept is hackneyed and derivative of the British sci-fi books The Tripods. I managed to get six episodes deep in Alcatraz, and only three in the appalling Terra Nova, so the fact I'm thinking about tossing this show after one says a lot. I'm beginning to think American sci-fi has jumped the shark.

Where is the good sci-fi?! Yet again I will be forced to get my DVD of 1967's The Invaders out....

I also didn't enjoy Terra Nova.

SG Universe and Enterprise should never have been dumped.

Nothing will ever match Stargate SG1 & Atlantis. Tis a shame because as soon as they came along everything else died IMO.
