Also, why does the press keep saying this is the first time a host nation hasn't progressed passed the pool stage?
In 1991, joint hosts Wales did not make it past the pool stage.
I was at the game, and when Mike Brown caught that high ball and went into touch in the 3rd minute I knew it was over. Australia were by far the better team. Throughly deserved to win. England really should have beaten Wales. How they didn't, well I'm still stunned how that game unfolded. But if England could not beat Australia, then they were not going to win the world cup.
The biggest flaw with England was the back row, with no specialised breakdown player. I mean, when you are facing Pocock and Hooper it could be useful!
Also, the centres were just kind of average/ inexperienced, or didn't match well together. The amount of centres Lancaster has used over the years is ridiculous. You find two centres who compliment each other, and play them over the years. Sigh. Anyway, go Japan, and go South Africa! And f**k New Zealand!

My hope is for an Australia/South Africa or an Australia/New Zealand final.

I don't think my friend would make it up. Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. You probably were not wearing a Wallabies Jersey so your experience was probably totally different to theirs. But anyway, Australia beat the pants off England so that's all that matters.

Maybe my mates were in the Royal Box - apparently Harry can be such a bad sport.

The Bokke looking good and on track to win our 3rd world cup
Australia definite contenders now but will be no match for the mighty Green and Gold juggernaut

Umm, it's from the Australian floral emblem, Golden Wattle, which is also in the coat of arms.
