But that's the thing, and I see Wol's point. If someone completely normal (ie clean shaven, suit, obviously off to work sorta thing) came up and asked you for money, or was begging in the street, would you be so inclined to drop them a tenner?
Or would you look at them like they had 3 heads?

Or would you look at them like they had 3 heads?

Leaving money in shops? Christ almighty.

I think a lot of the time, it's a psychological thing (with the giving to beggars/homeless anyway) - and some may just take advantage of that and put on the rags, for begging purposes
I mean, Gordon Ramsay's brother was apparently homeless and living in shop doorways etc. but was never seen wearing down and out clothes, instead, designer gear you or I probably could not afford.

Just today during lunch, a kid came and asked for some money to buy a coke. I remembered about this thread and thought why not, even though I was in doubt about the kid's intention.
So thanks to OP for bringing up this topic!

I agree with your view, I happen to believe in the same thing.

You know there are some damn good people on this site that have done random acts of kindness.
Some pretty fantastic people on here really and some I call real friends, not all that 'pixel people' shit but real friends that offer help and support to others.
Not naming names but I am quite proud to know alot of people on here even if it is via the computer.

Are you serious? Do you really think this is an act of kindness? Firstly a kid shouldn't ever approach anyone for money in such circumstances and secondly you have encouraged this by being stupid enough to give them money. For a coke FFS. If the kid was thirsty you should have pointed them towards a drinking tap and they could have had some free water.

Another time in Glasgow, in an alleyway off Buchanan street there was always this sad looking individual trying to play a mouth organ. So I bagged up all my loose change probably about 50 pounds in total and gave it to him. He legged it as soon as I gave it to him. I later saw him lying pissed in George Square.
