I suppose whether we stay or not depends on how the housing market is...
I think at the moment we are priced out of most of the houses available. Darn it why do I have to be a nurse!

Re: The 'PERTHIES' Thread......As requested!

We are in Rocky and the place is Wellard isn't it. We looked there about two weeks ago and you can buy the land and a basic 3 bed cottage for around $320,000, all you then need to do is to furnish, paint and do the gardens. but if you buy a second hand home it comes with all those extras and at around only 10,000 extra.

I understand they are also opening up near Beldavis and some at Secret harbour, and some in Mandurah.

We looked and made the decision that we wanted to stay in Rocky and we have bought a house near to where the train will be. We needed to move in to owned property as we are not settled not being able to put things on the wall or have the pets that we would like.

We would love to meet up and we are only an hour down the road and have other friends moving to Mandrah and others living there already. Funnily enough we were down at the weekend and went to the fish and chip shop (nando's or something) and went on the boat cruise and would advise people to go on the smaller boat as our boat couldn't go under the bridge to the Peel inlet.

Anyway we saw the dolphins from the fish and chip shop, and couldn't believe they were so close and jumping fully out of the water real close to us.

Bye for now

Hi Everyone
Can I join this thread. We are from Dublin going to Perth hopefully around October. If house sells by then. Hubby is a Plumber/Pipefitter. We have 4 kids, 22, 19, 9 & 8. 2 older ones are staying here and the 2 younger ones coming with us.
At the moment we are looking at settling in around the Rockingham area. Have went through a few weeks of not been able to decide where to go but decided to stick with Rockingham. I have enjoyed reading this thread, have been lurking trying to get through it before I decided to post. Would love to be able to meet up with some of you when we get to Aus. I know the kids will make friends when they get into school but I'm thinking of me.
By the way were oldies compared to some here, I'm 44 and hubby is 45 but whats age only a number feel as young as I did when I was 24.
Sorry seem to have rambled a bit, I'm putting that down to excitement of getting there.
Hope to chat to some of you soon.
Sandra.:D
P.S I'm on Skype and MSN as well if anyone wants a chat.

Hi Claire
Yeh that meet up is a bit too far would love to have gone otherwise but I think he might kill me if I suggest it to him. LOL. We have the visa a 136 skilled as well. There seems to be a lot heading towards Rockingham. We have a 9yr old girl and 8 yr old boy coming with us, the older 2 boys are staying here.(Bloody eejits)I'm just at the last stage of decluttering now and going to start tidying up paintwork and then put this place on the market.
I will PM you my e-mail address for the Skype. Will try to get on here as much as pos in the next few weeks I love to hear how everyone is getting on.

For anyone heading to Rockingham area, I have posted a thread about us and been asked so many questions about it I have started a thread: NEW MIGRANTS IN ROCKINGHAM WA, 1 hour South of Perth

I am answering questions about the area and if any one can help on other local areas especially good schools and property prices please put them on there for all to read.

I have even had questions about the Peel region but am not sure where it is. If someone can give me a city name then I will know roughly.

Thanks

Angie:)

Phone the Australian tax office to get your tax file numbers, or use this form and apply online.http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/co...p=001&st=&cy=1
You will need your TFN, so do it immediately.

Next, go to your local Centrelink office to sort out Family Tax payment and allowances...http://www.centrelink.gov.au/

Apply for your Medicare cards.. http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/...w_mc_cards.htm

You do not need to register with a doctor here as you can go to any surgery you choose at any time.
