Hiya, i have just booked meds today for 23rd feb at Nottingham, police checks already done. There is myself my wife and our daughter (11) we will be initially moving to Attadale to live with an aunt until we get settled in and find a place of our own. We have been looking at Carrine, mainly for the school but we will have a proper look when we get there. I am currently a train driver in Lincoln but i have qualified on TRA as a cook which is my old RAF trade, I have been cooking for the last 19 months to qualify for the visa so i hope we get a CO soon and they are happy with what i have done so far, fingers crossed:eek:

We have been here since October 2005 and are very happy and settled here. We live in the burb of Carramar, which is about 30km from Perth CBD. My Daughter goes to the local Primary school with is very good. My hubby works in the city and commutes on the train, which takes about 1 hour door to door. And I have the luxury of not having to work so I can spend time meeting friends for coffee and lunch!!

Also we meet up once a week at the Quay Café in Hillarys at 12pm for new and old expats to come along, it’s good place to meet new friends and get plenty of information about life here in Perth. You are all welcome to check us out when you arrive.

If anyone needs help or info please feel free to ask and I will try to help.

Sam

Thanks Sam will be in touch :D

Can I join in this. We have been in Perth for 2 weeks and having a nightmare with several things we should have researched before migrating. Working with children check, rental property, etc. I would especially love to talk to anyone in Perth with childcare connections. I have posted a new thread on the Barbie forum "working with children". We are staying at places work for room, to cut down expenses until we find work. My husband and I would love to meet up with any expats in Perth for a beer, chat etc. is there any meets arranged??

Jeez! That is inflation for you. We paid 4K GBP 18 months ago and thought that was steep. The price of oil I guess? We used Crown BTW and had a lot of problems with them this end but I think we were unlucky / they have improved as I haven't heard too many other complaints recently.
