Can anyone give me an example of someone in a witness protection program whose backstory is as comprehensive and well attested as Bin Laden's personal life?

How do you expect anybody to realistically do that?

Now is an appropriate time to remember Rick Rescorla.

Born in Cornwall in 1939, he joined the Parachute Regiment in 1957.

He then served with an intelligence unit in Cyprus during the Cypriot insurgency. He later He became a paramilitary police inspector in the Northern Rhodesia Police, before joining the Metropolitan Police Service.

In 1963 aged 24 he moved to the USA and enlisted in the United States Army. After basic training at Fort Dix, he attended Officer Candidate School, and then airborne training at Fort Benning.

He participated in the 1965 Battle of Ia Drang, as a platoon leader in the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). This battle was later immortalised in the book and the movie “We Were Soldiers Once”. He is the soldier pictured on the book jacket cover.

Lieutenant General Hal Moore described him as "the best platoon leader I ever saw". And his men nicknamed him "Hard Core" for his bravery in battle.
He later studied at the University of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City University School of Law. After graduating, he took a position with the University of South Carolina, where he collaborated on a text book on criminal justice.

He then worked for Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company in Chicago, and later Dean Witter Reynolds in New York City. When Dean Witter merged with Morgan Stanley he worked in the World Trade Centre.

On September 11, 2001 he evacuated had most of Morgan Stanley’s employees, before returned to the building to rescue others still inside. He was last seen on the tenth floor, moving upward, shortly before the tower collapsed. As a result of his actions, all but 6 of Morgan Stanley's 3,700 employees survived.

His remains have never been found.

One thousand Bin Ladens wouldn’t fill one of his boots.

There's a video that goes by the name Star Wars. Is that real too?

Amazing what they can do with video these days... :sneaky:

Evidence, real, tangible evidence needs to be provided. That video of the compound could be anywhere and the blood could be paint for all we know.

In order for someone to be killed there has to be a body. Were there any bodies in the video?

Not very impressed with the quality of a $1m compound. And people complain about properties in Aus. Bit of a shite hole really.

I don't actually believe a word that comes out of his mouth either, but think that Osama probably died long ago.

Surely that video is a joke?? If not there are some seriously disturbed people out there LOL!!

Can you imagine anybody taking the time to do that with Julia Gillard or David Cameron here in the UK?

I'm still not 100% convinced on the whole slick operation myself, on Friday the media here were speculating BIG TIME where Wills and Kate were going on their honeymoon as he had taken 2 weeks off from his job, then next thing they weren't going anywhere and he was returning to his RAF base after a weekend away, the next thing I get up yesterday to the news Bin Laden had been shot and was dead in the early hours, then he has been hurriedly buried at sea in keeping with Muslim tradition, as if the USA would care about that..........

I hate to buy into a conspiracy theory but if something doesn't seem right, then it usually isn't, gut instinct and all that.....

The way I read it, the media assumed they would go straight on honeymoon. No one said, they never do or would, that they were off on honeymoon. I think it's separate but a damn good move. More chance of them getting away somewhere private without anyone knowing about it. Not convinced about them cancelling because of OBL.

A friend from one of the compounds I lived at in Dubai told me in 2009 that his surgeon mate at one of the local hospitals had just given Bin Laden his second kidney transplant in Dubai. There are soooooo many stories out there that I don't think anyone really knows the truth.

The Muslim Council of Britain has consistently stood firm against terrorism and violence, and will continue to do so. Today our thoughts must be with the families of all those who suffered in the terrorist attacks around the world as well as of thousands of innocent lives lost in the wars against terrorism."

Only reason I posted this, is the fact that I live in a Suburb where a huge proportion of my Neighbours are Muslim... circa 30 pct probably. I'd say this is the majority view of these Neighbours of mine.

It's a pity we dont have regular Muslim posters on this board for some Balance.

Proof of the pudding is in the eating. When this evil tosser did what he did, not enough of them stood up to be counted. Ten years on they wonder why people view Muslims as terrorists and guilty until proven otherwise, as opposed to before where they were innocent until proven otherwise. They have now realised how much damage he's done to the very culture he claimed to protect. We have yet to see good Muslims stand up to him and his kind. They've got a long way to go before the world trusts them again:sneaky:

Some people on here remind me of that scene in The Office, where the IT geek tries to convince Gareth that Bruce Lee didn't really die and that he is working undercover for the CIA as an informant deep inside the Chinese Triads. Tim pipes in with something along the lines of "yeah, coz the one person you want working undercover is the world's most famous Chinaman"
