shit scuba steve hope your situation improves soon mate, it's ok to vent buddy can understand exactly how you feel about having your life on hold. Stay positive. Could you apply to go skilled independent if this route didn't work out?

moonstar are you applying for jobs befoe your visa is granted? I am assuming they would ignore me if i don't have the visa in place. Sounds like a sweet job, pay is good! Good luck.

this thread will never die. we need it!

I'm going to be doing recruitment myself. Be new at it though, have been in IT sales for 5 years. Are you off to Sydney as well?

Cheers Pacey.

Can I just point everyone off to Sydney in the direction of the "Is there a Sydney Thread Yet?". I'll be changing the title to the Official Sydney Thread when I find out how to.

hey all...gosh you men on here are making me feel scared! if you're scared, what should i be...arrrgggghhh! thought i'd just add a girly perspective to this loners thread.

i'm going out to brisbane in 3 months on my own and although i'm a bit worried about being on my own, i realised that you can be lonely in the uk too.......so better to be lonely in the sun and outdoors doing cool stuff than in the miserable winter and indoors watching reaity tv!......although i will miss dancing on ice! ha! :-)

good luck everyone

hey mate, i'm hopefully trying to get to sydney, but had interviews for melbourne also at the min. you'll do well if you have it sales background. comissions in recruitment are one of the best in work, so long as there is demand for the market sector you work in. I specialise in engineering and construction which there's a massive demand right now. one to watch if your looking at roles when you get out there mate.

I'm hoping by writing my negativity down I can prompt some good news instead (pessimist never being disappointed etc). Sorry for putting a downer on he thread but having one of those weeks!

Me too!! Head is mashed!! When we put our lives in the hands of an entity we can't control and it's not working in our best interests, I think it has a terrible effect on our psyche. Personally I try and take back control asap!! Only trouble is it usually takes me a while to recognise that this is what is going on and until I do - there is damage being done!! Does this make sense - as I said my head is a bit mashed this week
Anything to stop you applying via another route?? Except tomorrow of course - got everything crossed for you!! Take Care.

dancing on ice is only cool as its ice, not the program itself!

Anyhow, im in the same boat, had an interview for melbourne last week that went really well, and the city is meant to be awesome at the moment, as is brisbane and sydney!!!

sydney...melbourne...brisbane? it's a difficult one isn't it as they all have pros and cons. bris is smaller but maybe easier to get to know although the traffic into the cbd is suposed to be a mare so you have to decide whether you have a city life or coast life. Melbourne seems to have both pretty close although the city is quite spread out i hear and Sydney seems to have pretty much evertything but more expensive to live. sure whichever you choose will be fine. i'm still deciding..one day its bris..next day is mel. there's worse decisions to make though hey!

well i really wanted to stay for who i work for now, (large sports brand) but i would have to go when they have a vacancy and on a WHV and then get sponsered. I have a recruitment and fmcg background so ive been looking at recruitment and had a couple of telephone interviews. but still not to sure what i really want to do, i might even if a vacancy come up soon, then apply, book a 2 week holiday, go interview etc and do a recce and go from there!
