Makes sense to bring in this kind of competition I think, natural progression of things. Hopefully this comp will be a step towards the full European model of winning the championship being the most important thing and get rid of this NRL / AFL grand finals rubbish. I know some here are a fan as it prolongs the season and keeps it exciting, its not for me though.
In other WSW news..... Parra Stadium is having extra seats installed and I think we have sold close on 15,000 memberships, they are probably going to have to put a cap on the numbers very soon unfortunately as they need to be able to provide at least a small percentage of match day tickets for general release. If you don't have membership it will be very difficult to get home tickets now, especially against the bigger games against East Sydney and Central Coast. We might need a bigger ground soon and the long term aim is to one day have our own purpose built stadium, personally I would prefer a rebuilt Parra Stadium as I like the location. Hopefully plenty of 20,000 plus attendances this season.
Football Australia thankfully told Penrith Panthers to ***** off in their bid to buy out WSW! No NRL club should have control of a football club, Tinkler up at the Jets can ***** off as well. There have been various reports of interest from some high profile European clubs, some of it well wide of the mark I suspect. There is plenty of interest out there from what I hear and I think the FA will take their time and get this right, it has to be done right as if WSW fail the A league fails in my opinion.
WSW off on a Asian tour in September which will help prepare for the ACL and do a bit of marketing.
Exciting times as ever for WSW fans

Will be interesting bringing the ethnic clubs like Bonnyrigg, Olympic, Marconi and Sydney United in to a comp involving A league teams! Although attendances at these clubs have fallen away in recent years community support remains high. Could be some big (hopefully trouble free) attendances involving these teams in Sydney. Bonnyrigg White Eagles (Serbian) V Sydney United (Croatian) is usually tasty

Looking forwards to this cup competition, should make an already dynamic league even moreso.
I notice with a great deal of scepticism that they've changed the dates for the Melbourne V v WSW game from a Saturday in February to Tuesday night, Jan 14th in Melbourne, claiming clash of venues.
Personally I think it's too tricky for the Police, and they are following the UK example of trying to reduce away numbers in the case of fierce rivals playing... and by then we could be into a situation where both teams could be fighting for the title.
Never mind though will still be going, and considering a repeat of last years trip.
Have a piccy.... Paramatta last year. Not bad for 58 even if I say so myself.... me a part of my crew

Posted the picture to illustrate it's all kinds of people that make up the "active" support.

Which one are you ?
The change in MV V WSW game date has stuffed up one of the RBB's designated official away trips
This is probably the desired result
This has now been switched to the Melbourne Heart game although many WSW fans are still planning on going to the MV game on 28th December but many will struggle to get down for that one so Heart is now the big Melbourne away game this coming season.

The one with a scarf and I dont have tits

Apparently the RBB were having trouble finding pubs to take them before this announcement from the A league. I do know that Palace v Brighton fixtures haven't been allowed on a weekend for a hell of a long while and always play midweek, in fact the that Palace v Brighton fixture was the first place in the UK were they used that metal wall.
So I've put two and two together and made 4 and a half and figured it's probably crowd control related as much as anything else. I'll reckon I might get ill around that time and have to take that night off of work

34 days now
It's getting a bit late to book away games cheap, so I'd say I'm probably not going to any away games before xmas dammit.
Here's some more news...

the easiest prediction to make will be that the Perth Glory will finish last this season. No signings of any note and lots of kids playing for them this season.
#24
Good news on the Perth Glory front that makes all MV fans happy.... They just beat Melbourne Heart in a friendly tonight. They really did.
So when things look their blackest....You've gotta have Heart

Grabs coat and runs for door.

Glory are playing the Heart again on Saturday, I am going and will report back on both teams

Glory have been caught on and off the pitch and I would say at least 5 clubs are bigger than them now, it not a few more.
Glory will still have success but I think it will become increasingly difficult for them, I see them as similar to the Phoenix now.
Personally I am hoping that NSW teams dominate the competition for years to come and we have a run of all NSW grand finals. Any further competition expansion has to be in NSW also.

WSW have totally sold out their membership, going to be close on impossible for non members to get tickets. Ticketed membership cap has been placed at 15,500, add the supporters and out of town membership on to that and we have over 20,000.
The home game V Phoenix is looking like a sell out and I hear WSW fans are snapping up the remaining away section tickets. If you are not a member of WSW of East Sydney forget any ideas of going to the derby at Parramatta, will be impossible. Although there is the grass bank outside the stadium where some do stand.
Parramatta Stadium just isn't big enough any longer. I really do think that WSW could attract 30,000 attendances for regular season games. I am still against any move to the Olympic stadium though as 50,000 looks lost in that place
Taking close on 10,000 up the road to CCM and I see East Sydney have given us all of one end and a bit more this time
So there should be between 10,000 - 15,000 WSW fans there.
Excitement building now

The season is nearly upon us. Can't wait. Going down to Tassie next week to watch us play Melbourne in my wife's hometown. I have a feeling there won't be too many of us WSW supporters down there so I better prepare my lungs.

There is a group heading down I think so you won't be alone. I was tempted to head down as my wife has family in Hobart and the plan was to stay with them and travel up, can't make it though unfortunately.A sign of how far WSW has come when we take people to an away friendly in Tassie
