Ah! I thought he also wanted some examples of laid backness as well but then ignored the ones I gave. Or did I misread the post?

Yeah, we were in Shakespeares - the problem was that they'd erected a little enclosed marquee at the back entrance for the smokers to set, but had the back door open, so the whole cafe was filling with smoke. One of our group got up and shut the back door.

Actually ramadan seems pretty relaxed this year, maybe less noticeable because we were still on summer holidays for the first two weeks and the kids are at a school with less locals this year so not so many people fasting.

Hope you're enjoying Sydney, I'm sure some Cain Toad will be able to help me with the pub name.

I dare say it's as big a media invention as the British 'stiff upper lip'. Honestly, it's all a crock of shit - people are people. I've lived in the UK, the USA and Australia (natch) and you get the same kinds of people everywhere - the stressed, the bored, the relaxed ... etc etc.

That's true - but living in a really mixed place right now, I' reckon the most laid back seem to be the Australians, the Dutch and the Irish.

I gotta be honest, most of the blokes I meet at work are pretty laid back, perhaps it all depends what line of work you're in

Can only think of a couple of people who've been majorly stressed out and they were a pair of useless bastards anyway

Totally agree with Amazulu - they don't have time to be laid back - too busy dreaming up more rules and sodding regulations!

In the UK everyone at my company got 26 personal days plus 13 statutory holidays. I would guess that is as good as most places across Europe too.
