Well after serious thought about your question, I've decided that I can count none.
But then I'm not in Oz yet, so that may change once the hubby decides to take up the sport of toad golf

To be honest I don't really give a toss what anyone thinks about the fact that I'm a million miles away or not ..... the fact remains that as usual if you don't agree with the majority you get jumped on .... not that I give a toss about that either ... but if you had read what I'd actually said I agreed that they are pests and pointed out that they should be disposed of the way you are told too as the golf club method could cause unnecessary suffering AND could be more dangerous to the person doing the clubbing !!!
Anyway this is getting very boring now

One way to dispose of them is to freeze them and the other (depending on experience - and this is the key with regards to clubbing them) is to give them a blow to the head. A golf club will (if used correctly mind you), I'm sure, cause a swift and painless death.
My views and opinions were in now way meant to be personal or critical. They are my views and my views alone. Everything I commented on was based upon observations, recommendations and common-sense and were completely objective and not subjective.
I'm sorry if you took offence. I didn't mean to cause any.

I don't have any idea what your opinion is as I can't be bothered reading all the thread. This is mainly because I don't give a toss either way
Cane toads are the least of my problems right now, maybe in the next year or so I may get an opinion who knows.
Not trying to offend anyone - just passing time until I can get out of here
Cheers

Also, I think that it is very true that people who are actually living with this problem are far better qualified and experienced to call judgement on how to get rid of the pest than someone who is living 12,000 miles away in a relatively pest-free zone and who has no actual experience of the problems that the toad can cause.

I think that clubbing cane toads with a golf club is probably not classed as cruelty (based upon the comments of aspiring cane-toad golfers who have posted here) because if you have a good read of: http://www.agric.wa.gov.au/servlet/...OAD_WELFARE.HTM you will read the following excerpt:
"Cruelty to cane toads is against the law and is punishable by heavy penalties. Only people who are experienced using blunt trauma to kill animals humanely should attempt to kill cane toads using this method. For this method to be humane, cane toads should be knocked unconscious by a single blow to the head, followed by decapitation"
I think that the fine-line between immediate dispatching and cruelty probably exists where a cane toad does or does not not get a driver to the head (respectively). I also believe that the poeple who are using golf-clubs to kill the toad can probably be classified as "experienced" based upon the reported numbers of the little bastards.

So if we see a man or woman with golf club and large knife wandering the streets we are to assume they are not crazy but out killing cane toads and not ring the police.

Just read Shark Frenzy on Aus Coast and have just had a brain wave do the cane toads not kill the sharks as well so if all unwanted cane toads thrown into water solves both problems.

Cane toad Pie is an excellent way to dispose of - nutritious and delicious too. Excellent with Guinness in a puff pastry pie. Bones become soft and can be eaten without any problem. Very popular in Townsville around the turn of the century (19th to 20th that is)
