I think you'll have to agree that these two examples are quite shocking, have you experienced anything similar in the UK?

My wife was cutting this chaps hair when out of the blue he asks,

"so, are you a PB?"

"excuse me?"

"Are you a personal best or a Pommie Bastard?"

My wife was stuck for words as you can imagine, personally I would have replied do you have a SD (small dick) and then I would have strategically placed my scissors in his neck, hard!

A 4 year old girl walks into the salon with an England shirt on, all the staff are remarking on how pretty etc the little girl is, the manager says to the girl, yes you are, just a shame about that shirt you have on (in a deadpan manner) Not really the way to make a young girl comfortable who has come into his salon for a haircut and certainly not the manner in which to talk to a 4 year old, the manager has kids of his own.

We ran this by two Australian friends of ours and they were appalled obviously.

Would you get the same sort of treatment in the UK whatever nationality walked into a salon for service? No you wouldn't.

This is a beautiful country, we're happy. The thing is if you do come across this sort of immature attitude you just have to rise above it or better still give it back twice as hard but with a more dignified approach. It's no good just telling them to **** off as that's the worst reaction, unless it's imminent 'hands to battling stations' of course. :D

'Shoe on the other foot'. Are you saying Polly isn't doing her job properly because she agrees with the sentiment?

Rich

You rise above it. I had it in Perth.

Remember, as a Pom you always, always have the trump card:

- We founded the country
- We created their language, culture and society
- Most are decendants from Poms - mainly the dregs we didn't want.
- And our queen is their head of state - wave a bank note in their faces.

Use this as the base to any exchanges and never, ever get angry. If you're a Pom, you'll always have the upper hand - it's just too many don't realise it.

You'd never catch us back in the UK.

Australia does have it's problems but it's a big place.

There's less traffic, there's more opportunity to make a good living if you're willing to put in the effort, you can get a beer at the football, you can still buy land at a reasonable price, you're never far from a fantastic beach & (if you're that way inclined) it's a fantastic place to bring up kids as there is so much to do with them for $nil.

Let's not forget the problems of the UK. Gun crime, drugs, a government that do exactly what they want, high taxes, high cost of travel, the pensions crisis, high cost of living & high cost of property.

Funnily enough that statement reminds me of Australia. :D
