DEAR GOD IOLANDE!!!!!!!!

ITS NOT A SIDE ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The head of the CRU says the planet has been cooling for the last 7 years!!!!!!!!

The head of the CRU says there has been no global warming for the last 14 years!!!!!!!

The head of the CRU says exactly the same global warming seen from 1975 onwards has happened three times in the last one hundred and forty years!!!!!!

THESE

ARE

NOT

SIDE

ISSUES!!!!

This is the entire crux of the AGW debate. This is what this thread is about. This is make or break time……..

yes, we have already discussed how temporary cyclical cooling has created a short-term offset to the long term trend of global warming on this thread. This is not make-or-break. He isn't saying anything the pro-AGW lobby haven't been saying in the last 20-odd years.

Let me translate what the head of the CRU actually said into meaningful text:

1975 - 1998: some global warming, but identical warming to that seen between 1860 – 1880, and 1910 - 1940.

1995 – 2009: No global warming.

2002 - 2009 Planet is cooling.

That’s it ladies and gentlemen. That is from the mouth of the UKs primary AGW forecasting institute, and lead provider of data to the IPCC.
Someone please explain……

Please define "short term" and long term" in the context of AGW, so i can put it into perspective.

Are we talking 1000 years?

I refer you to the previous posts where we discussed the short-term issues (they include solar stuff, ocean temperatures and cycles etc)

. But Iolande, if the AGW are going to use the "short term cycles" argument, they must provide a definition of what a short term cycle is.

It isn’t a get out of jail card to be used when the hypothesis falls on its bum.

How long is a short term cycle?

I refer you to the previous posts where the cycles were discussed. The length of time is included.

In this thread there are 20 posts with the word “Cycles” in them.

Many relate to solar cycles, and as such are not related to this subject (although Solar Cycles may well be related to GW)

Some posts refer to oceanic cooling cycles.

No prediction or estimate of the length of a cycle Oceanic or global is made anywhere on this thread.

Like a say, you cant use “get out of jail cards”.

Planet Earth isn’t a juvenile delinquent. We cant say – “its just a phase its going through”.

If you intend using cycles as a reason for Climate Stagnation (which is what we currently have) they you need to provide some timelines so that serious analysis can be conducted.

That was - as I clearly stated - a translation.

if you wish to translate his words and get different meanings please do so....

I am agog to see what you can come up with.

bet you cant put a postive AGW spin on his words.

Let me try:

BBC: So Jonesey, looks like you stuffed up a bit.

Prof Jones: Well yes, we did fudge some data, and threw away any evidence that might prove us wrong. But you know, we are Scientists, we do what we like.

BBC: Yes, but now with the investigation….

Prof Jones: Ahhh don’t you go worrying about that. My mates will cover my bum. We have stacked the inquiry, and I have said sorry about losing that notepad from 1963. That will fix everything.

BBC: So is the planet warming?

Prof Jones: Yes of course it is.

BBC: Really?

Prof Jones: Well XXXX Knows. Its been bloody cooling since we started, and it hasn’t really warmed for a long time. But it did for a while back in the seventies. That was when we were using mercury thermometers you know. But it definitely warmed a bit back then.

BBC: And that warming in the seventies was unique?

Prof Jones: Good lord no. Its happened lots of times before. We try not to talk about it, because it makes us look stupid.

BBC: So it’s a cycle?

Prof Jones: Yes, exactly. And I am going to hop on it and ride off into the sunset. Im looking for a new career as a bike courier you know.

BBC: Thanks.
