Global warming?
It's a lot of hot air! It'll all blow over shortly.

Big Al just did it again....
In his speech yesterday Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.â€
However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore referenced has since stated “It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at. I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.â€
An Inconvenient Truth again….

Yep it appears he just makes it up as he goes along, how on earth can anything seriously be done whilst jokers like him are allowed to screw up any remaining credibility they have. Now we have Gordon Brown coming to the rescue as the first leader to arrive, well that's a poisoned challice if ever there was one. I imagine nothing will come out of this pathetic meeting other than the extra CO2 in the atmosphere from the 15000 flights used by the delagates.

is the transcript of an interview by Maslowski: he says that he is not qualified to decide whether the reduction in ice is due to CO2, but his figures for the ice are nonetheless pretty interesting!

Heavy snowfalls last year, starting in October, resulted in 2.5 times greater use of salt and grit, relating in depleted salt stocks. Extra stocks were stockpiled during the year.
By 9am today the UK was cut in half by snow, Gatwick and Luton airports were closed and four inches of snow had fallen.
Twitter is full of people pleading for more gritting trucks and snowploughs.

Back to global warming...
This means that the USA for example could offset the same level of emissions they continue to produce, with another country that doesn't use it's allocation, and everyone is OK....
All countries which are signatories to the Kyoto Agreement of 1997 (ie. have ratified the Kyoto Protocol), have agreed to limit their carbon emission to a predetermined amount.
Alternatively, they can offset their omissions through the process of Carbon Credit Trading. This involves buying credits from someone else.

If Australia cut emmissions by 50% the result would be a world cut of 0.65%
But...
If China and USA both cut their emmissions by 1.57% the result would be a world cut of 0.65%
Just thought I would put it in perspective.
If the whole world, excluding China and the USA, cut their emmissions by 25% the result would be a world cut of 14%
but
If China and the USA cut their emmissions by 25% the result would be a world cut of 35%.
A couple of US States:
Emmissions per capita : State : Total Emmissions
37.01 Kentucky 156,800
36.43 Indiana 230,830
The above two US States total: 387,630 for a population of 10.5m
compared to Australia:
18.74 Australia 372,013 for a population of 21m
