Beer o'clock was a pleasant surprise when I first moved here!!
Haven't ever seen anyone in pyjamas in the supermarket though! Maybe I go at the wrong times of day??? I haven't noticed any differences on the food grazing front either... maybe that's just because I did that anyway....?! And I haven't noticed anyone (other than shift workers) going to bed/ getting up at funny times... Hmmm... starting to think I'm missing things?!!!
But yes, the no shoes syndrome is funny. I haven't decided yet whether I think it's a bit yucky, or a nice summery thing.... I'm leaning toward yucky...
I like all the public holidays... strange that Australia has the Queen's birthday as a public holiday and England doesn't!
The "but" thing at the end of the sentence confused me for a while. "It's a nice day but." But what?!!!!
And "my bad" confused me for a time too...
I've adopted the Aussie food terms (capsicum, eggplant, zucchini) just so that people know what I'm talking about, but I draw the line at 'pah-sta'!!

"Beer'o'clock"? I had no idea this was considered Australian?
In fact I've just started watching Season2 of "Life on Mars" - which surely is as quitessentially English as is possible - and the term "Beer'o'clock" was definately used by Detective Chief Inspector Gene Hunt!! (surely a character not too heavily influenced by Australian culture?)

The kids at school get 1 hour break for morning tea, but only half an hour for lunch, now that's weird, the kids eat their lunch at morning tea as they dont get time to eat it at lunch.

I heard Dim Sum on a DVD the other night and I thought it sounded odd!

Well, I've heard it many times but today I saw it for real. In Woolworths Ellenbrook at around 2pm, there was a middle aged guy in proper cotton pyjamas and ugg boots shopping. I was astounded, despite all the talk of this on this website it still hit me as weird. And, I was the only person in the shop looking at him...so it is obviously a normal thing.

Hahaha! I'm a proud PJ wearing, barefoot shopping Aussie and the fact that he was doing this at 2pm still strikes me as funny! Bikini shopping is another thing we tend to do a lot - who knows when you'll feel like a stop off at the beach on the way home? Why bother to wear anything else?
