Been there, saw the film , read the book, brought the T shirt, and stuck the poster on me wall...

Difference betwteen what theyrs doing there and what happened back in the day????

if my kids want to go on that kind of trip they' ll be a, paying for it themselves and b, not telling me their plans or i'd be shredding their passports..

Just tell them not to post it all on Facebook ;)

I'm not against anyone having fun and know the kids like to drink but at $3 a BUCKET of alcohol, that is just inviting trouble.

I think Vodka Red Bull is the least of your worries.

Because Gemma needs an audience and most of the Lounge posters are asleep?

I suppose I thought there just might be people less dim than you,, who had not heard of these dangerous parties and would find it useful information in safeguarding their kids against the dangers in Koh Samui/Phanghan.
Basically, in spite of your rather snide remarks ,I was trying to be helpful.

Haven't heard of this kind of party before thank god, and have no interest in hearing about them now cos they really aren't my thing I'm afraid.

And when it comes to personal insults, I object to being called "dim", so please don't do it. I'm far too thick to qualify as "dim" as you would know if you frequented the Barbie more often

There are parties like this absolutely everywhere in the world*, drugs and booze are never heard to find and just to reassure parents I've been to a few in Thailand and Cambodia and the $3 buckets of booze are nothing of the sort - heavily watered down local stuff.

I love the way the writer of the article has so clumsily attempted to sensationalise what is virtually nothing... Thailand is not a particularly extreme nor frightening place by any stretch, there are international hospitals and English speakers everywhere and the police are pretty liberal. No biggy! Find a real story...

* With the exception of Vatican City, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and Australia (The Axis of Square)

'Schoolies' sounds so wrong though - I'd like to go 'partying' not 'paedo-ing'
