I am not counting The Wombles as it was bought for me!!
Mine would be The Mobiles "Drowning in Berlin" I would have been about 10.
I was also a HOOOJ Adam Ant fan and wanted to marry him and run off in a stage coach (a la Stand and Deliver) and live happily ever after.
Then I got over him and fancied David Van day from Dollar saw him on I'm a celebrity and wanted to twat him!!!

Me too (fancied David Van Day that is). (I'm a bird also, despite log-in name!)
Do you remember when he got engaged to Theresa Bazaar? Didn't last long, was probably a publicity stunt. She lives in Sydney and I saw her on the tele about a year or so ago with her son on a talent contest!

Sorrow by David Bowie and, at the same time, My Sweet Lord by George Harrison. 49p each from WH Smiths.
My Dad was home from working in the Middle East and nearly died of shock when he heard the B side to Sorrow; I didn't really understand it.
I've just looked up the year on wiki, and one's 1973 and the other 1971, but I know I bought them together
I was only really into them because my big sister was - in 1973 I was 10 or 11 - but still love them both.

lmao...i have to agree David van Day is rank...I was 12!!! I moved on to George Michael

at 14 (I grew up!!) Oh I wouldn't have minded a bit of Marilyn

George Michael is only gay as he has yet to meet me!!
Shane Warne??? OMG the guys rank and obvioulsy infested with nob rot!! Urgh!! Don't mind blonde men...Simon Le Bon was cute.
Oh lets not forget the fleeting crush on Nik Kershaw!!!

My first single was "Lip up Fatty' by Bad Manners, it was 99p and I remember feeling very grown up and rushing home to play it about six million times, I also however fell for the charms of Mr Van Day and remember being really really jealous of Theresa, thank god that stage didn't last too long, Nick Hayward came along from Haircut 100 with those lovely jumpers and it quite took my mind off of Mr Van Day...

I think it was Crazy by Icehouse, which I still love. Also recall buying 'No Memory' by Scarlett Fantastic - still a brilliant forgotten classic of the 80s.
However the record that remember best and which will often pop up in my mind was
...The Joking Smurfs by, er, The Smurfs. Can't find it on Utube, sometimes I wonder if it was all just a crazy dream
But i'm sure it was a UK hit!
During my teens (1980s) I collected a helluva lot of flexi records free with pop mags too
- iI had to explain to my niece recently what the hell those were, as they're totally defunct technology

I bought 2 singles at the same time - Vienna by Ultravox
& then completely embarrassed myself & hang my head in shame & admit to buying Making your mind up by Bucks Fizz
The first single I owned though was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen which my Dad bought me for Christmas when I was 5.

John Lennon Imagine
I think it was around the time he died, was about 6-8 yrs old. I still have it on 7 inch single, I remember the B side had swearing on it, somethink like school hero it's called.

Twas a Shakin' Stevens record and I was about 3 or 4. 'This old house' I believe it was called.
