No. To make them feel bad about it I told them I forgave them and understood that sometimes when people are weak they do things to hurt others but I undersood that they were weak people and could forgive it.
I left him 6 months later after finding myself a tall, blond toyboy. Unfortunately he's now as wide as tall and bald, but he's still younger than I am

Ah but did your exes ring you up when they'd gone self-employed after you wouldn't agree to them doing so 'cos it was too risky, when they were on their arses because you were right, asking you to buy them a packet of cigarettes?
Or ring you up when they'd run out of petrol, and ask you to go pick them up and take them to the garage to fill up their can (and pay for it too)?
Oh I did it. I left him, I was well out of it, I was doing well, and I pitied him (and, if I'm honest, was a little bit smug). And it made me almost wet myself laughing that his cute but brain-dead girlfriend always believed I was just passing.
(Don't worry, I used him too. He did all my DIY, a bit of something I didn't have to DIY
and came running round in the middle of the night when I thought I was being burgled. Not sure how he explained that one to the girlfriend.)

To be fair, I caused him a bit of grief too. He got me out of a few scrapes when I went a bit wild after I'd left him.
