Ok long story short, the wife left me and as much as i tried to sort things out, counselling etc all i got was verbal abuse, lies to my friends and family painting me as an abusive alcoholic, very very upsetting to them and total ****ing shit,no i've had an email sweet as ****ing sugar asking me to sign the divorce papers.I even got shit for signing papers to say i wanted nothing from her extensive property interests/shares etc because i used a justice of the peace and not a solicitor because i could not afford one,the judge threw it out cause he thought i was getting a bad deal,i didnt want shit !!
Perhaps im bitter but what happens if i dont sign the papers,im off to Ireland in a few weeks.I expect the usual flack from the wimmin on here but i am hurt.

Get yourself an Advocat and forget it, remove yourself from the emotion and wait for the outcome.
Not sure if they exist, but if they do ..... defo do it... in 10 years you will be pleased you did, I reckon. Go in give them the details once and once only, with the instructions you dont want to hear anything till it's over.

I know there are two sides to every divorce story but it doesnt sound like you are getting a fair deal from this one, even if you didnt want anything, but that is your decision alone.
Good luck Mr Invisible!

you don't have to cooperate .. If she is in oz she can get it all done without you. It will just take her a bit more time and hassle.

I kind of agree with MP. I think you should get something out of it but I have done exactly the same as you but in a common law situation.
Either fight her for what is yours or just sign the papers.....

Then she will have to chase you, wont she? I am sure that many partners in divorce have done just that. Become invisible and nick off - not your worry then really. They certainly wont stop you leaving the country. Only problem I can see for you is if you fall in love in the next 3 weeks and want to marry someone else.

A divorce is a dissolution of a marriage totally separate for an application for financial/children (if this applies) matters, so until she files that I am not sure what to say....there are very good free legal advice websites out there, I am not sure of the links though.

You know what? The only thing that pisses me off about this post is the highlighted bit. Judgemental shit in my opinion. As to whether you sign the papers or not is up to you. Haven't you posted on this subject before? Thought you wanted it done and dusted and then move on? Why not just do what the judge wants you to do? It's not going to go away just because you're not interested in her possessions. Maybe a shit system for your particular case but presumably it's in place to prevent the 'poorer' partner from a relationship, whether male or female, from being shafted.

my ex in qld didn't want to divorce me .. I left her .... so she dragged it out as long as possible... just as i was going to get it done without her she cooperated. There are certain rules about it ...
it was a few years ago now .... download a divorce pack somewhere for an explanation.
I should add ... i never had kids with her and we divided all assets evenly by sitting down with a piece of paper and wrote down who got what.
