Someone help me, I'm stuck in a nightmare repeating loop! Someone posts a thread about the weather, the same predictable people post the same predictable posts in the same predictable fashion from the same predictable viewpoint only to be responded to with the same predictable responses .... aaaaaaaaaaaarggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .......

I think winters in the UK are a lot milder than they use to be, when we were back in 2007 it was 12 degrees in December that's not bad at all.

Do you expect people to change their minds to make it more interesting? Do you just read threads to make a miserable comment on them?

I could swap a Melbourne summer for a UK summer actually - or rather live with it. But I think I'll definitely keep the other seasons with Melbourne for sure!

The worst thing about the UK winter is the short days

Even in Melbourne they are not so short - maybe by an hour - not sure.
It's amazing how quick you get over the hump too - by August, the days are noticeably longer in the run-in to spring.
Conversely I don't mind the shorter summer days...light to 9pm is good enough for me, and the deal is overall better than the UK then as far as I am concerned.

Light at 4.30 am dark by 7.30 peak summer.
Dark evenings in Oz dont worry me, too many bugs too hang around outside much anyway, flies, mozzies, midges, all states get at least one pest.
The worst part is the 4.30 am blazing sunshine, that is where the southern states have an advantage IMO.

Black out blinds and ear muffs
no gentle robin song here
, more like a chorus of cacklin lunatics in the guise of kookaburras, giant crows and cockatoos.

I love the darkness, all this sunlight really gets on my wick.

That is exactly what we do, we stay outside till the early hours when we have people around. Lights and candles galore. It doesn't bother me it going dark early, I can't see why people get so worked up about it.
