After the comfortable shallacking of India last summer a lot of cracks were papered over and some players over hyped. This tour has been a huge reality check to Australia and where they stand in international cricket. They have a tough overseas tour coming up and tougher opposition coming down here for the summer and it will be interesting to see where they stand before heading to England next year.
My guess is they will be in crisis.
This last game could have been even more crushing for the Aussies had Morgan held onto a simple catch off Clarke when he was on single figures. Also the whole DRS system showed why it still needs a lot of work. England's referral on Hussey showed that the ball was not quite over 50% hitting (although Hawk Eye suggested it was more than 50%). England lost their review then two balls later had shout turned down that had it been reviewed would have been out. This is the problem at the moment. Everyone knows that Hawk Eye has a margin of error so how can you lose a referral when hawk eye predicts that it is only 49% hitting the stumps. If DRS is going to become mandatory then the ICC need to refund referrals in these situations. I remember this cost us in Brisbane on Clarke

Men's doubles at Wimbledon- one of the winners was a Brit. Apparently the pair have never won anything and had to have special permission to enter. In jubilee year you couldn't write a better script. Cue the film makers....

How on Earth Australia have the No1 position I just dont know. I realise they inherited it to a degree but quite clearly England are by far the better team and should by rights be No1 in all 3 disciplines of the game. There will be a few fans back in Oz wanting to commit suicide after seeing what has happened to the team in the last few years.

We walked into a bar, sampled the welcoming hospitality for a good 30 minutes and decided to head for an off-licence and a night at our temporary home.

In Ireland we had to be dragged out of bars, in Scotland we couldn't wait to get out of them

The last time I felt that unwelcome was in darkest Wales ... I was vaguely surprised not to awake to the sound and smell of my tent burning ...

Sports News - Federer pulls it back to 1 set apiece ... time for bed ...
