I can't think of anything worse than having Tesco move over here. I love that there are specialist shops still & good butchers on evry high street:thumbup:

To the OP, since when was Australia a 3rd world country? Is your assessment based entirely on the absence of Tesco supermarkets?

2nd what you've said.

I never want to see Tesco's over here.

Every little hurts, if you are a farmer on the breadline in the Caribbean or where ever. Your cheap bananas or whatever come at a high price for someone and it aint Tesco.

Hold on to your local butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers!!!

The minute Tesco, Asda or whoever gets here, you can more or less say goodbye to them. They are ruthless and will do all they can to push them out.

A parade of empty shops with boarded up windows and the increasing numbers of charity and tacky $1 shops wouldn't be pretty to walk along.

It's typical of what's happened in the UK and I'd hate to see it elsewhere.

Yes the work practices of Tesco are disgusting ... screwing the suppliers and farmers , buying land to stop competitors building supermarkets close by, etc etc

But then the average (thicky) UK shopper doesn't care about these things, as long the food is cheap, thats all that matters.

" as long the food is cheap, thats all that matters "

... and also blind to what actually goes into it it. The reason why it's cheap!

Apparently so. Australia still has competitive small business food retail maintained by keen eyed shoppers.

Does Tesco food dull the UK mind?

It is no different to any other supermarket chain.

they will all screw their suppliers whenever they can.

The suggestion that Australian supermarkets are any more altruistic than UK ones is laughable.

So why is food so much more expensive if there is so much competition?

It is laughable how the 'defenders' of all things Australian will try and argue that higher prices are somehow a good thing:confused:

Grayling...haven't you been told?

Anything that exists/happens/lives in Australia is automatically, by definition, better.

I mean, the sheer superiority of Australia is plainly evident all around you, wherever you go.

Come on!
