Well I think Billy Connolly is one of the funniest stand-ups I've seen. The only other stand-up I've really enjoyed is Eddie Izzard.

Billy Connolly should stick to travel programmes.
But Eddie Izzard is funny.

Connolly, Kay, Izzard and Tommy Cooper (legend)
ps. Lee Evans is as funny as toothache and just tries to imitate Norman Wisdom.

I love Peter Kay from his TV stuff, I would even go as far as saying that it is by far my favourite TV Comedy (Phoenix Nights), but I find his stand up pretty crap actually.
I'm a massive fans of Ricky Gervais' stand up, his politics tour was by far his best, but the other two tours were damned good too.
I used to really like Jack Dee's stand up back in the 90s and Lee Evans is very entertaining to watch, even if it's just to see how much weight he loses before the end of his show.
My dad used to be a stage manager at a theatre in Kent during the 80s and 90s, just as Lee Evans was starting to become big. One evening on his show, just before it was about to start he could see a dark shadow in the distance back stage pacing up and down. He went to go and investigate and it was Lee Evans talking to himself in his frantic way with no trousers on. My dad reckons he is as mad in person as he is off-stage

My vote for Billy.
I was walking down Pitt St in Sydney on a wet Sunday afernoon in 1988 and he was walking the other way. I recognised him, he stopped, and we started chatting, and then we had a coffee together. It was an hour I'll never forget. Go the 'Big Yin'.

Ricky Gervais is the funniest man alive. Actually, I recently added him as a friend on facebook.
