How do you know it's not more frequent in the private sector? People do it, people get caught and they may or may not get fired. But others do it after them. But your issue is that someone is actually taking money from your tax and using it to have a day at the beach. You've also taken the opportunity to appraise their work performance (see post 43). That's quite arrogant as you have no idea how hard these people work or how efficient they are. Efficiency over time works far better than the other way around.
And referring to me as 'the left' is a bit silly from someone who has a strong dislike for name calling.

Meanwhile, in South Australia...
Fisher by-election: Labor eyes numbers to govern in own right in South Australia - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
A big swing to Labor is threatening what was once a safe Liberal seat and giving the ALP a tantalising prospect of a majority government in South Australia.
"I mean a fourth-term government with a by-election in a safe Liberal seat getting something in the order of about a 9 per cent swing to the Labor Party, this sends a clear and unmistakable message to Tony Abbott in Canberra: 'Break your promises at your peril.'"

It's been a bit of a rollercoster ride for us regarding the East West Link, as you know Ozzie we moved here to Melbourne specifically so my husband could work on it.
The last couple of days the husband and myself have been trying to find out any new news that might give us some hope of it still going ahead. From all the info we have gathered so far its not looking like its going to happen. for us that leaves us in an unfortunate situation, So we have two choices now as there isn't any other tunnle work currently going on in Melbourne, we either move to Sydney or the surroundings and he applies for a job on the Northconnex (I think its called) Or we go back to the UK where he still has a job on Cross Rail.

As the article points out, a near 10% swing TO a fourth term government in a solidly right leaning (or non 'socialist' if you want to be all BE about it) seat is in fact, quite surprising!

Partners been offered 3 large construction projects to run in QLD next year, yet in Melb, he cant get a bite unless he has 'Experience of the Unions'. Not much of any marching, protesting, even unions goes on in brisbane, its all very laid back, so he too is having a hard time, despite being born in melbourne

Yeah the construction business here seems to be made more complicated by unions and the Government. It's a bit of a minefield.
You're welcome Mrs, anytime. If I can do anything else to help just give us a shout.
Hope all goes to plan. If at anytime you feel like some company and a nice long drink of something that makes you slur your words, you know where I am.

I have to admit, I wasn't aware of sick leave. I've never been unfortunate enough to need it, but should I get sick, or a family member gets sick its nice to know its there for its intended purpose - sickness. Not for cashing in when retired.
If your dishonest attitude towards sick leave is reflective across government institutions, its time to provide some incentive against self entitlement.

Every position provides sick leave. Very surprised you hadn't heard of it unless self employed.
Anyway some taxing jobs don't mind at all the odd mental health day taken off to recuperate even if not ill in a traditional sense.
Actually very healthy to do so in today's highly charged competitive work place.

Just as those that earn more do and should pay more as a percentage in taxation. Not forgetting the over supporting tax incentives geared at the wealthy and portions of the middle class.
