Default Aidelaide Test

See, i knew it! We're not happy unless we've got some doom and gloom.

We're doing ok in the 2nd test day one, and can i find a thread? Can i heck!

I'm a bit suprised that Fletch has again omitted Monty, but it's his head on the line.

If Harmy does well when he's up, then i think the media glare is going to fall on Strauss, who's given his wicket away so much i think he must've unearthed some convict ancestry

Good to see that Collingwood and Pietersen are in form. I only managed the 4 nano-seconds of highlights on the Beeb this morning, but they did show KP swatting the surf bum around the ground

What a promising day today, the convicts were a lttle subdued in the office this afternoon.

McGrath is ****ed, he's that old he couldn't even muster up a little sprint to catch Pietersen out. As for bowling this test, he's finished.

Shame Collingwood didn't get his ton tonight.

Leaving Monty out.

I thought it looked like the Aussies have said listen guys lets make this series exciting.
Didn't you see McGrath say oh dear what a shame just couldn't reach that catch.

Yes, just been able to watch the key moments on the internet this morning. But scorecard looks good. Solid start from this deffensive selection. Looks like Pieterson had a go at Warne, lets see more of that.

I reccon if we see some strong batting from Flintoff we could be looking at 450+. But I agree we will find it hard take all the wickets needed without Monty, he must feel really

Was there at the Adelaide Oval today. What a great day, a bit slow at times, but a sound 266 for 3 by England, great to see Bell and Pietersen get 50s and Collingwood still there on 98.

Back there tomorrow... hopefully we'll finish the innings with over 500 and pile some misery on the Aussies.

The score is not that good, only 266 runs for one full day batting, the wicket is a slow one...

I think the first session tomorrow will be the key if England wants a result out of this game, and hoping there isn't a batting colapse!

I think this one will end up being a draw...

Agree in part with you.
The pitch looked pretty slow for the Ozzie bowlers and that made it tough for the batters to time the ball well.
I agree that the morning session will be vital in this match. If England get through the first hour without losing a wicket they'll accelerate on to a big score (hopefully).
The biggest factor will again be the performance of the England bowlers. I think England have a more varied attack and if they perform they can win this match. Australia have a bit of a two dimensional attack which is looking a bit lacklustre but then you never know with them.
McGrath is a class bowler but he was lacking pace on day one. Clarke looked pretty good but he's very similar to McGrath.
Lee is fast but isn't getting any movement from the pitch or in the air.
The pitch isn't ready for Warne yet.
I'm hoping England will get 500+. Its hard to tell what the pitch is going to do at this stage but it certainly cant get any easier so England need to pile on the runs and then see what their bowlers can do. England have much more variation with the hight and pace of Harmy, Freddie hitting the deck hard, Anderson (hopefully) getting reverse, Hoggy swinging it and Giles tying up an end.
I do think that Monty should have played though. To justify his inclusion Giles needs to take at least 5 wickets in this match and I cant see that. If he cant do that he needs to score about 100runs and I dont see that either!!
On the basis of day one I'd say England look good for a win but it'll be a close match

OK the 266 isn't brilliant but it is a solid start, much better than the first day at Brisbane at any rate!

I agree. If Pietersen and Collingwood hold on for a decent innings it will bode well. The batting needs to be steady, but, the bowling needs to be excellent. Monty can't bat, but it does not matter we need to bowl em all out, and twice at that!

Smile Re: Aidelaide Test

This is the fightback I expected.

Very surprised to see Panesar on the sidelines (again) and not on the field.

Strong batting by the usual suspects. Here's hoping that the pitch gets a big edgy over the next couple of days, so that Warney and McGrath can do their thing.

Speaking of McGrath, was it just me or did he look as if he wasn't quite up to form?

Congratulations to England for a solid first day.
