The lifts were air tight apparently. No air went up.

The towers were hit by a 767, not a 747 and were designed before the invent of the 767 and therefore were never designed with the payload of fuel a 767 carries, nor its velocity at impact...I think they were designed to withstand a 737.

Just having a read up and it was a 707 ...

Take a look at this website for some interesting questions raised

Yes so I see.

'John Skilling was the head structural engineer for the World Trade Center. In a 1993 interview, Skilling stated that the Towers were designed to withstand the impact and fires resulting from the collision of a large jetliner such as Boeing 707 or Douglas DC-8'.

I wouldn't hang out too long on that site. It's a bit dodgy.

Maybe it would look suspicious if they allowed another bombing to happen, so they brought in the planes scenario.

Me thinks...
I thought is was the grease on the elevators and the rubbish underneath them that caused and fed the fire.

Funnily enough, I saw a programme yesterday about a guy who has invented a heat resisitant grease, which should make Kings Cross type disasters impossible in future.

It was the grease and the rubbish that fuelled it but what made it worse was that the fire was running up hill and fire goes faster up hill.

It was a great programme as they tried all sorts of theories for the fire and they even reconstructed the escalator and underground station and in the end it was a combination of things (like accidents always are) but the fire up hill was why it got out of control so quickly also the drafts from the underground station fanned it.

But of course accidents can't happen these days according to H&S - they are miscalculated risks....or so I was told at work when I had to go on a course.

Back to 9/11 on the news today a British plane had to do a Uie over the Atlantic on it's way to Mexico as the American's weren't happy with one of the US passengers on board as the plane was in US airspace....so the Yanks have access to all the passenger info for planes in US airspace even if they aren't landing there? Big Brother is watching you....

Funny you should say that, I went looking for the 'Loose Change' doco online and was recommended this documentary instead.

BBC-Sex.Spying.Conspiracy (PBS.Discovery.History.Channel.Theory)

Watch and see how the government is tapping your phone calls, reading your emails, and creating databases of everything about you. Companies get paid by the government to collect info on all of us. All the purchases we make. The spouse we might have or what kind of pets we have, or even our favorite color. Here we have an ex CEO of the company talking about all this. Watch as you see how some companies monitor all their employees even while they are away from work! Finally the video shows the infamous NSA and how more than 20,000 people working each day listen to your phone calls. Hear ex employees talking about it. The sources are from MSNBC, Discovery Channel, and History Channel along with others. Not only is this evidence but it comes from high sources and it takes you right to the heart of where this is all happening.

And this is just part 1 of a four part series.
You know you'll download it

Er, no. Just no.

In any case, the 1993 bombers were all clearly identified and convicted.

The 767 is slighly bigger than the DC8/B707 the WTC was designed to catch BUT the B707 was significantly quicker, roughly 10% quicker, so the kinetic energy delivered by the impact would be very similar the forces experienced by impact were NOT outside of the design and clearly the impacts did not in themself bring the towers down.

Fuelwise yet again similar, though there were 2 different 767's used (767-200 & 767-200ER - extended range) with different fuel capacities.
