Hiya,
My OH is an aussie, born and lived in Sydney until he was 22. Met me in London while he was backpacking...we then ended up spending the next 8 yrs in London (now have 2 kids). We returned to Oz in July last year...still not 100 % sure we did the right thing

My OH is an Aussie (he's a lurker, rather than a poster at this stage!). He's from Brissie area and moved to UK 7 years ago with the intention of staying for 1 year, but you know how it goes. Loves living here, ended up meeting me, we were going to stay in England but move out of London and down to Devon, but then decided to give Oz a go instead. So we're planning on moving over next summer. Should be fun!
He has indefinate leave to remain (Grandad was born here) but we think we should probably get him a UK passport before we leave, just in case.

The thing is can you ever be really sure. If you dont try it you wont know, and spend the rest of your life wondering.

I am an Aussie and hubby is English born but came here when he was 4, he lived in London for two years around 1990. I have never been to the UK, but I joined this site as we were considering moving there for a spell.
However we decided to go to Tassie (for the cold) Tassie is the next boom and oportunities abound with a major skills shortage.

Is this for real? I've always harboured a bit of a dream to go there for a spell. After living in Scotland for a few years, and now stuck back in Oz until work opportunity comes up for me in the UK, I've been keeping my eye on jobs in Tassie. Either there or New Zealand, primarily based on the (possibly not true!) perception I have that both these places will be cold, dark, rainy, and have mountains meeting the sea (just like Scotland). Would be great if there were jobs etc going on there as well

Whereabouts in Tas are you planning to live?

I'm actually a Kiwi by birth, but grew up in Bathurst, NSW for primary school and then Rockhampton, Qld for high school. I went to uni and worked in Brissy for a few years, and then came over to the UK in the mid 90's and have been here ever since. My wife is a Pom, and we talk about going back to Aus to live once we have kids. I am now a proud tri-citizen!

Well hubby is 44 years old now and consider's himself an Aussies unless the English are winning at something (which isn't very often)
He did spend two years back there for a working holiday, but yes he is an Aussie with Aussie outlook, find's a bit of the English standards of his parents a bit trying, oh no, that's me

You can't really tell by the internet but they do seem to be needing tradesmen down there, there are two large shipbuilding yards in Hobart that are needing Electricians, fabrication, carpenters, pipefitters, etc.
Yaay, someone else want's a cold, dark and rainy place with mountains! Everyone thinks I'm mad!
