My point is that it's boiling out for weeks on end, with NO rain, then, SUDDENLY, with no warning at all, it's freezing and windy. The dramatic change from one crap thing to another crap thing is my complaint.
I actually wish, as it happens, that it WASN'T the ''first wet day in 6 months''; newsflash: that's a BAD thing.

I can't understand why people want to live there
But that can't be the worse thing about living in australia, after all, it is not even typical of most of Australia.

Coles - my local is fine, but i supplement with local markets
Racism - Never really witnessed any unless it's between ethic groups
Bad drivers - Yes
State Schools - No experience, but I didn't see great things in the UK either
Medicare - The NHS is not a great thing to hold up as an example
Banking - far, far better than the anally retentive UK banks
IT Systems - pretty standard, neither backwards nor forwards
Bad TV - Yes
Lack of anything old - You are only bound by your own mind and imagination
No decent theatre or shows - plenty in Melbourne/Sydney
Digital Radios - the sound is rubbish anyway, DAB is a flop
Shopping - i can get everything I need
Aussies always know best - and the Brits don't?
Isolation - fantastic
Accrue leave - get a better employer, what do you want - free time off??
Sick cert - get a better employer
Expensive flights - Air Asia $1200
Lack of Human rights - Thank god for that, if we become like the namby pamby UK I'll have to look for a new country.
Renting a house - far easier than the UK. Did you have to pay a letting fee and have credit checks in Aus?
Being ripped off - Never, most Aussies are dumb and honest, many more wideboys and con-artists in the UK
Low standards - not really experienced this

The worse thing....hmmm depends on the time you ask...
At the moment its been the fires, but thanks to the rain its better.
In the winter its the cold, but I have a newer house, so heres hoping thats better too...

I think you are, exagerating a bit if it rained every day in winter,in the Adelaide hills , we would,nt be in the trouble we are now.
Adelaide has sporadic and unreliable winter rains........and if you call 1deg c freezing then you must be soft.......and i have lived in Adelaide for over 40 years.............mm

i have always said i dont have rose tinted glasses about what a move to australia will be like and i think i have realistic expectations. but i cant help think that it will be a case of the grass is greener and i just wondered what the worse thing about living in australia is, and i dont just mean leaving family and friends behind, but every day living.
