Especially since the kids were at an age where they could give it a go for a couple of years with no real harm to their education???

I dunno, it takes all sorts I guess
I just wanted to shout at the TV! He was lovely, she was just soooo negative about pretty much everything.

I'm with you on the kids thing JenJen....& the other thing that narks me is that they make the children watch the friends & family dvd - shouldn't kids that are essentially having their futures decided by their parents be spared that agony? Especially if the child is happy & settled in their own minds about going - what purpose is served by having the tv cameras on some poor little kid crying over missing their grandma, or their best friend at school, or whoever.

That Scottish girl (Kirsty) I think, last week, was amazing: 15 years in the same little village with family & friends all her life, obviously old enough to understand the implications & full of reservations, but still wanting to have a go & not close any opportunities down to herself - great kiddy, her parents should be proud

Jennigee,
My 2 daughters (aged 3 and 5) and my son (aged 1) were not in the same room as us when we were shown the F&F video. They had a child minder looking after thm in the garden. They are young but my eldest is very switched on and would have understood much of the video

Hi

Fully agree with you on the whole kids thing - I don't even let my children watch that bit on the telly in case it puts ideas in their heads about being upset!

Yes have to give them they're dues there are a number of kids on the program who accept that bit for what it is.
I know my family and friends wouldn't do that to us, but if they did I would be livid with them if we'd said look this is really what we want and then they sat there going don't go we'll miss you, we won't see the kids and you'll be so far away.
How is that fair? Does grate on me, I keep meaning to skip it but i'm normally doing something else while that bit is on, obviously skipping woul dbe better cause I can still hear all the crap and it still winds me up LOL

So whose on tomorrow???????

la la la la la

hi all, I thought it was just me that shouted at the telly. Have been off sick after op so have been able to catch all of them, I have to watch, buts drives me insane. Today's was just nuts, if they wanted to live in a house, with a garden and that was very clear, why show them apartments?
And the selfish relatives and friends.....don't go, stay with us, they are just round the corner to help out. Agh! What about support? Oh well will still be watching it tomorrow xx

Hi, have you been on yet

So you seem to be saying the parents have a choice about whether to let their kids watch the video? How can they do that to their kids then?

We see my family maybe twice a year, but I know what would be on the video: "Don't go, you just like to have your own way all the time - what if something happened & we needed you...etc, etc, etc".

The chap the other day had it right: Friends & family don't put food on the table or pay the mortgage, therefore they have no right to put pressure on to change the decision....so selfish.

Sorry...this is my particular bug-bear about the whole thing

I want to watch it - how do I get it?

I watched the Perth family this morning. Can't recall their names but he wanted to re-train to be in the Police. I knew from the start that it was him pushing for the move. She just seemed so very negative about the whole thing and kept saying "its not the marsden"

I don't approve of children seeing the F&F bit at the end either.

BUT the thing that really annoyed me was the mother saying that the eldest daughter didn't want to go and then she said something like how the daughter felt would be a big part of the decision to go or not........FFS she was about 7 years old!

AND! Another thing. It was said right at the beginning that they already have their visas. You could tell straightaway she didn't want to go so she's therefore taken a visa place that someone else could have had - someone who really wants to make a go of it.
