Be good to meet up again, maybe a different place more child friendly would be better if anyone has any ideas.

We'd definately be up for a meet up. Don't arrive until the 1st July though. I agree - somewhere child friendly would be good for us too. Don't know where you met last time, but maybe a picnic/barbie in the park somewhere? Or for a very kiddie-oriented option, one of those playcentres like (sorry big list coming up):

playcentres

The facilities listed below are commercially operated children's playcentres offering indoor activities, such as bouncy castles, ball-pits, slides, push-vehicles and more. For exact details of the equipment at a particular centre, and opening times, contact facilities directly. Some facilities also offer regular 'playgroup' times with organised activities to enable you to meet up with other local parents and children.

Hi mummy
It would be good to meet with you
We have to consider the amenities close to railway stations as lots do not drive into Sydney The Circular Quay was a good area as it is central and easy to park for those who who risk the drive and also an interesting area

If we can find somewhere that is near this and has the facilities you require plus - (think of the weather it is unbelievably cold early in the day and mid afternoon) so BBQ/p[icnic may not be a satisfgactory answer at this time of year - it would be good.

Any suggestions anyone........

Sorry - it has been really warm and sunny here and had a barbie on the beach in cornwall yesterday so not thinking that it might be too cold for that at the moment over there! Likewise, it was summer when I was in Sydney so really having trouble thinking of indoor places to meet.

What about the cafe in the botanical gardens?

Not a bad idea. If it's the cafe I'm thinking, it's not an 'indoors' type of cafe although there is plenty of shelter if it rains.

I love this quote on the RBG's website:
Please walk on the grass! We also invite you to smell the roses, hug the trees, talk to the birds and picnic on the lawns.
For access:
Train: the nearest station is Martin Place. Other stations close to the Royal Botanic Gardens are St James and Circular Quay.
Ferry: an easy walk from Circular Quay
Bus: the 441 (Balmain via QVB Building) leaves York Street, Town Hall on weekdays, stopping outside the Art Gallery of NSW. The Sydney Explorer Bus also includes the Royal Botanic Gardens on its route and the 200 (Chatswood to Bondi, stops in Macquarie Street).
Car: there is metered parking along Mrs Macquaries Road, Hospital Road and Macquarie Street. Undercover parking is available at the Domain Carpark, Sydney Hospital Carpark and other commercial carparks nearby.
