Yes, thanx for the encouragement Dotty, helpful as usual!... not
i think its really useful actually, if you know the trap most people fall into when they get here, then you can avoid it yourself. Worked for me, at 160cm you cant afford to gain a pound cause each pound looks like a stone

Hi PP
Congrtulations on the first few pounds it's a good start. I found the clothes thing helped for me. After years of being the "Fat friend" went out and bought a teeny tiny pair of hots pants which where so small for me could hardly get them over my jelly like knees. Gave up on fad diets as none worked, just ate decent food did some exercise but made sure I had a treat now and again. Took me about nine months but lost 2 and a half stone and haven't put it back on.
If you waited that long for a visa then you can do it with weight too. I never did have the guts to wear the hot pants but keep them in the wardrobe because I know they'll fit. Keep going

I'm of the 'eat less, exercise more' camp, like others here. You can starve yourself as much as you like but it ain't going to make much difference unless you get out there and move about a bit.
I've just bought myself a pedometre - best bit of exercise kit I've ever owned as I am so intrigued to know how many miles I'm walking/running and how many calories I'm burning that I end up running and walking more than normal. Sad really, but at least it's working!
I hate scales too - much better to do the jeans test. That said I do get weighed every couple of months at hospital appointments and the mean people make me keep all my clothes/coat AND my shoes on. Charming.
Sympathy with PP and MrsDagboy - for some of us with conditions, it isn't an easy battle to win. But you both seem to be doing well, so keep up the good work. Glad you're feeling a little better MrsD.

Thanx Bundy,
I'm certainly not starving myself, just using the low Glycemic Index foods to help my diabetes and as its a healthy diet it also means you lose weight.
Was very disappointed when i turned up at the pool this morning to find about 500 kids having a competition day!!!!!! Will have to try tomorrow instead

Know what you mean about the pool. I've given up swimming at our pool because it is always full of kids and you can't swim in a straight line. It's ridiculous - a town with a population of 88,000+ and we have one public pool. I used to swim every day but now it's too much of a struggle so I pound the pavements instead.
