I have to fess up... I buy the marmite and sometimes hob nobs... I used to hunt out twiglets too. Crisps is one of the things I really really miss from England!

Our eventful week continues... I have had good news though, the cyst is apparently not as big as it was and although extremely painful should disperse by itself in the next 6-8 wks.

However, my partner has just taken his son to A&E because he is struggling to breathe... started with a sore throat this morning and has progressed so quickly its scary. Hoping that the hospital can give him something

Isn't it funny the kind of things that people miss from the UK where food is concerned...mainly what i call "comfort" foods isn't it. I'll probably be the same myself!

Hi Kings Medows is a suberb of Launceston, Just outside, Got a quite nice shopping area and must be a few expats around as the bottle shop also has a few English beers.
It's a good location being out of the central area but close to the airport, bunnings and the main roads.

thanks, i did wonder. We were looking at one of the maps the other day of Tas and couldn't believe how many places names are English... We were laughing that we could end up living somewhere near to where we live now!
Now that would confuse people if we told them where we'd moved to but missed off the Australia bit at the end!
I have a feeling Bunnings will become one of Andy's favourite stores - after all he spends enough time over here in B&Q and the like so he'll feel right at home there!

My partners son is much better but seems to have passed his virus on to his dad... argh man flu (no offence Gary!) He was tested for swine flu but thankfully it wasnt but 'just' a bad respiratory infection.

Cathy - we live just close to Kings Meadows... its not huge shopping wise but does at least have enough for food, donut king and a couple of bakeries! Like Gary said, also close to Bunnings

HI everyone, Why do people in Tassie try ripping you off when they know your not from the area or don't know you. We got offered some sheep at one price, Then when they called up again the price had chaged by $15-$20 per sheep.
This has happened a few times to myself and Vikky and her Mum. Seems to be that once they know you are not local,(Even from Mainland) They look at increasing the price. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Hi all

Just back from our trip to the UK, absolutely knackered, too many late nights and long flights! Went to bed early last night and slept for nearly 17 hours

Had a good time, my mum's wedding was lovely and I was really glad we had gone. Stayed with my brother and his family, lovely to see them and spend time with my 3 year old nephew. Went up to Hull to see an auntie who I have always kept in touch with but not seen for years, met up with the out laws at the same time (so felt very virtuous )

Then had 2 days in Dubai, which was good fun, heat like I've never known it, 45c one day! Fantastic hotel, very expensive but worth it, was picked up from the airport and on arrival (at 7am) we were given breakfast and got our room early too. Lots to see and do, 2 days was not long enough, not sure about the "real" Dubai though, we took a taxi down to the Creek area and I felt very out of place, very male orientated, we nearly got ripped off on an abra (boat) ride but I was very assertive, think he was glad to drop us off! Looked around at the gold and spice souks, we were there at 10am, I think an evening visit would have had more atmosphere though.

Anyway, nice to back in my own bed (as my longest ever sleep proves!) nice to see hubby again as he has been rattling around on his own for 2 weeks, longest time we have ever been apart but I think as we were so busy, we didn't have time to miss him much (shhhhh, don't tell him)

Hi Sam, welcome back! Glad you had a really great trip.
Shame the weather wasn't all that great for some of your time over here - very changeable wasn't it - but thankfully warm still on the rainy days!
No news at this end...still waiting to put house back on market. Andy's working on the kitchen today - and we go away next weekend so looking forward to that.
