Tasmania??

Hi Sam, yes all very exciting for us (at last) as we finally know where we are heading!!!!!
Hopefully we won't just be cyber-friends in Tas....LOL
Quote today was from 'PSS' and then we have 'Pickfords' coming on Monday. Going to get 'Crown' and 'Anglo Pacific' in then
Just need to live near a hospital so my daughter can have regular check ups with a consultant.

Glad to hear its all getting sorted.
Do the removal companies take long when they do a quote? I can imagine it taking hours with all the stuff we've got. When I went to an emigration show in October, a couple said they wouldn't come as far as Somerset, thought that was a bit odd, seeing as we are only 1 1/2 away from Southanpton where I think many container ships go from.
Once we have a case officer (please, pretty please) I'll start calling them for ideas.
Of course, selling the house will be the main delay anyway, as they keep predicting doom and gloom everyday on the news! If necessary, hubby can first, find us a nice house to rent, start his job, get a car (actually do all the hard work) and then we'll follow!
Lots of nice areas to live in Hobart area, from what we saw - have you been before?

No never been to Australia at all before........but something has been pulling me and hubby back to Tas for a while now
Getting quotes in now as we don't know how long it will take to find a buyer........so doing something constructive in the meanwhile.

also, my sister in law has just arrived in Tas and she used PSS, she found they seemed to leave boxes half empty, put the rolling pin in with shoes (??) and then they struggled to get everything in from the garage at the end, they ended up having to choose what could go in (even though it had all been assessed weeks before), she is now hoping for us to bring some stuff with us next year in our container, just check when they are packing cos you want all your stuff to go. x

Could someone already in Tas please give me an idea of where to live?
I need to be within walking distance of schools as I don't drive........and even if I did we can only afford one car when we arrive and hubby will have it for getting to work.
I'm hoping there is a school somewhere in Tas that they can all go to.....like all under the same roof
Be soooooooooo much easier for me then
I also need to live near a chemist as my daughter needs daily medication for her bowel disease,
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

My daughter is 11 and son is 9, so maybe they might even go to the same school (alright, I knoe there are quite a few schools on Tas!!)
Obviously can't help with areas as I don't live there yet
but we liked Kingston, Blackmans Bay, Taroona on one side of the river and also like the look of some areas on opppsite side.Hubby might even be able to serve you in pharmacy! If he gets a job that is, he has to find somewhere that the Pharmacy Council approve of and has to do 4 weks of supervised practice, which may be difficult in retail as there is usually only one pharmacist on duty, apart from big stores, which he would hate.
Anyway - makes me very excited talking about it

How come you are not moving until Easter?

We are putting house on market after Christmas, so will have to see how long it takes. With B of E dropping the rate, that can only help

If we get the visa by Spring, and the house hasn't sold, hubby might go over and get started on everything, whilst I stay with the kids, to sell the house. We can't rent it out because we need the money from the sale!!
Good luck
Sam
