Yep, "lost in the post" deos not wash with me either, have they not heard of fax or email?
I think the truth is that his solicitors are truly useless, the offer is probably sat on a desk somewhere, which makes me even more mad.
The mortgage broker (which just adds another 3rd party to the equation) has asked the building society to send another one out today by recorded delivery, so if it is not on their desk tomorrow, then something is definitely fishy
Buyer has already signed his and sent it from Oman by courier, on Saturday, so they shoud have that today or tomorrow as well. But again, if they say, they have not received that either, they are even more useless than I thought:curse:
Anyway, this is no good, I was supposed to be all happy and positive today, instead I am just full of worries and doubts about it all

Probably doesnt help that your buyer is located overseas most of the time by the sound of it!
I know it's hard and you probably cant help it - but try not to worry too much... we dont want those migraines coming back with a vengeance!

Evening Peter
Your trip to NZ sounds great - and like you say once you're responsible for animals etc it does make trips away harder.
You seem to share the same opinion of the UK that quite a few people that have settled elsewhere have! ie, nice to see relatives but not really anything else!
You didnt manage to attach the picture... please try again - i'm sure i speak for everyone in that one of the best things about our Tassie thread on here is the sharing of pics of Tassie...

Here i hope will be the missing picture.Peppers launceston seaport hotel on the left.I took this from the Mud Club gymn upstairs pre -ruptures
In the distance is the gorge but hidden away. And the houses on the hill belong to the Trevallyn suburb of Launceston. Its a bit hilly driving up there. No peple in sight down below.Normally in spring /summer it is packed with tourists but this pic was taken in July in the cruel Tasmanian winter

The hotel looks very nice (and fairly new?). Do you know anyone that's stayed there? I love seeing houses set up hills like that - but being a non-driver at the moment i'm not sure my poor knees could handle walking up them!
Seeing as that picture was taken in July and winter time - the sky is unbelievably blue!

I'm in work and have just looked out of the window and at 7.08pm here - the sky is grey - just plain old grey - oh and it's raining (but i'm sure that doesnt surprise you!)...

We stayed there!
It was June when we there and we had an amazing storm the night we arrived but the next morning was beautiful.
The hotel was lovely, fantastic room with a balcony overlooking the river but a bit on the pricey side, breakfast cost us dearly!
Sam
PS Sorry can't attach any photos as they've already been downloaded on to a disc, sorry!

Hi Sam, the hotel does look nice. I hope the breakfast was worth the money though!

So you've downloaded all your pics now to disc...at least that was one job out of the way! I really must get some discs for ours soon....i haven't downloaded any and we've got loads of pics on this pc. I use kodakgallery for sharing albums - so at least there's a couple of years worth of copies on there i guess...
We keep meaning to buy a DVD recorder so that we can start copying our family home/holiday video's onto DVD's. they're quite reasonable - have seen them for sale for about £80 so i think we'll get one this month.
That's the only thing with emigrating - more jobs than a normal move in this country!

Yes I thought the hotel looked pretty good.Sammy T has filled you in with first hand knowledge.I too like to see high up hillside houses

Given that the winter air is clear and bright on many days and the sun around lunchtime is very bright we're talking Alpine almost I still wonder if my Kodak camera pumps the blue sky up a bit.But i rember thinking what a truly blue sky
Never mind that rain is good for your skin
And no it doesn't surprise me.Tonights pic is of the smallest oldest working bank in Tasmania (think i got that right...anybody disagree if so feel free to correct me...Located in Derby on the road to Scottsdale from the direction of the East coast was my route that day eventually ending in Launceston and on to home.

Thanks for the photo
it's really nice to see other people's pics of places/things in Tassie. I dont imagine from the looks of things that you get a massive queue outside that bank like you do ours here in Romford!I quite like those old houses with a business attached.....i like the older style properties anyway. Do you have post-offices out in Tas set up like that?
All of the small post-offices based in shops here in Romford have all but shut down in the last couple of years....so there's only the main offices to use.
What do postboxes look like in Tas anyway? do you buy stamps and post things - or do you have to make a trip to the postoffice to do all your posting?

Thanks for the info - much appreciated.
It doesnt sound too bad over there then. I'll just get the one pair replaced this year then and wait and see about doing the other in Tas (unless we're still here next year!
)
How is your training going? haven't seen you on the thread for a little while, hope you're both well.
Did you hear about the lady that fell and sadly died whilst out walking with a friend in the Lake District? I thought of you and Peter (Oldgit) when i read about it - as you'd had all your recent discussions about the fells there..

next marathon is the Hunter Valley in July:
http://www.huntervalleymarathon.net/
on Sunday after the race we're going to Albion Park, south of Sydney, to see some friends of ours who've just emigrated from NZ which we're looking forward to as we haven't seen them for a year or so.

Glad the training is going well - good luck for the marathon next month.
There'll be quite a few of you wont there? 900 is quite a lot - but i imagine you had to get your applications in fairly early as i know these kind of races are popular. Seeing as you're in the winery area though.....i imagine that after the race you might be partaking in a little light refreshment whilst there!
Have a great time catching up with your friends....I hope you all have a great time and that they're settling in ok...

take care

No massive queues you are really gonna miss those
In my rural areas each locality has a small post office based shop. Its the only way many of the village/hamlet stores exist.Mine for example is 18 Kms away.It is a general store come post office.I get mail delivered Mon- Fri at 7.30 am or thereabouts, daily paper delivered at the same time by the Postie excluding Sundays. If I ring the shop before 6.30 PM the previous evening he will deliver groceries the following morning.leave the money in my letterbox in exchange as they tot the bill up when I phone the previous evening. We do a big weekly shop every Thursday at Woolworths again about 20 Kms away in Legana (north of Launceston)If i cannot get down to the Post shop I ring up and ask Steve the Postie to collect a letter for me to post and I leave this in the mailbox and he collects it the following morning.....rural life is rough and ready

Now in launceston there is like what we call the GPO main office only here it is called Australia Post. But in the city suburbs there is always ageneral store with apost office attached just like we used to have sub post offices in the UK but often as you say no longer.
The pillar boxes aren't like ours i will take a pic of one so you can see for yourself.Posties over here in towns and cities often deliver the mail on moped like motor bikes and we have letter boxes at the gate and they skilfully go from one box to the next without falling off.
Tonight's pic is of Mount Rowland in North Northern Tasmania on the way to Cradle Mountain.

Sounds good about the queues!
That's great the way your post / paper & groceries if needed can all be delivered by the postman! Does sound like the way things happened years ago in the UK. That's one of the things i kind of like about Tassie i think.
Not sure if i could personally get used to the idea of living 18km away from my nearest shop though! That would take some getting used to!
When i handled Australian accounts at work Australia Post used to be one of our Sydney office's clients so i'm familiar with the name!
I love the photo...
How much of the Island have you had a chance to see - are there still places you would love to visit?
