It's like the Aussie equivalent of the death of Diana over here at the moment.

I couldn't believe it when I came from home from work and Jim told me the news.......it's so sad.....why do so many good people get taken away from us so young.

An amazing man with a larger than life character.......he will be sadly missed by many people all over the world who admired his passion and love for animals and nature.

RIP Steve

Wendy and Jim

Thought the BBC website must be mistaken, then thought is it April 1st. Absolutely stunned. He is an icon of Australia. He seems to be a very giving and genuine man. Thoughts of love to his family...
I am so angry though..what a waste. Cheers Steve, you were one of a kind.

Well, my little son had to cry when he heard that the Crocodile Hunter had died. We had a great visit to the Australia Zoo - it was a wonderful place - the family put on a great show too, so much energy & "larger than life".
RIP Steve Irwin.

friend of mine who works for the Nat Parks was out tagging crocs with him a couple of weeks ago. They worked together a few times. He's obviously gutted too - he's en-route to the Zoo at the minute, not that he thinks he'll be able to do anything.

RIP Steve

May the road rise to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back,
may the sun shine warm
upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields and,
until we meet again,
may God hold you
in the palm of His hand.

May you rest in peace Steve, you will be missed!
