I know an IT person just let go from QLD police. Basically the good contract staff that actually did work have been let go. The next lot of headlines about QLD IT will make the health payroll debacle seem like peanuts. Aggh QLD the "smart state".

We should have stuck with our South East Queenslander instead of this Tasmanian interloper Newman

That's the story all round, people with years of solid experience and good backgrounds in subject knowledge are being dumped because its such a random cull.

If he knows people, he'll be back as a highly paid contractor. In the midst of all this nonsense, I still know of people earning 1.5k a day at Not for Profits where front line staff are being hit - mind you, you need a close relationship to whoever's hiring. Probably the same in Govt
Wouldn't it be great if Campbell could publish details of all his cronies/relatives/ex public school boy chums that he's found nice little earners for?

Basically the voters of Queensland have given him a mandate to do what he is doing - and a pretty powerful one at that. You get the government you vote for, it's called democracy. If you don't like what he's doing, then at the next election vote him out.

That's how it works.

<cough> I could give you one or two but can't. Newman used to be in the military and you take it from there. That's not to say he's putting the wrong people into posts, of course, not any more than Anna was wrong to put Greg Withers in his post. Sometimes people trust those closest to them.

We must have missed the pre-election promise to cut like an ideological fool

Politicians doing things/not doing things that they promised/didn't promise in the election - there's a novel, unheard of concept.

Have your say at the next election - democracy is a powerful thing.

Queensland's Newman government is accused of breaking an election promise to not cut frontline jobs by slashing 45 nursing positions.

The Queensland Nurses Union says the cuts are part of 130 job losses announced today for the Townsville region.

If those in the know are silenced before election day the electorate won't be fully informed when making their democratic choice when the day arrives...it's all part of the process not an attempted substitute for it...

So after trying to get nurses from all over the planet to come and work in these places they are now sacking them ? Makes sense.

Doesn't it just. A friend up there was at the meeting today about the cuts and reported back that its likely to actually be 200 jobs in Townsville
