You are looking at Revenue form APSS 251? I have just looked at my copy of the form, and yes, I signed as the Scheme Manager.
Best regards.
Best regards.

This all sounds interesting.... I am about to move out to Perth, running a UK SIPP at the moment, & loathe to lose half of it or hand it over to someone else to manage (read 'skim from'). Would very much like to be able to run a self invested super...any chance of pointing me in the right direction in terms of how to do it/costs/anyotherinfo?
Many thanks

I am a fully qualified ex UK Financial Advisor now working in NZ. I can give you advice on transfering your pension to a QROPS scheme. We use Asteron who are a market leader in these schemes. If you want to give me a call my cell phone is 021 575 024. I am transferring my own scheme at the moment as we are now residents of NZ!

No-one has mentioned ING yet. A pretty big insurance & superannuation company in Australia. If you're lucky enough to have an Aussie company pension scheme with them (don't forget you can now choose your own pension scheme, you don't have to just go with your employers choice) then they have QROPS status already granted. Here is the link: http://www.ing.com.au/public/pdfs/M2..._Migrating.pdf
The catch 22 for us though, is we stand to lose approx. GBP20,000 in transfer value, so it's staying put at the moment. If anyone knows of any changes to this annoying rule, I'd be glad to hear. Would much rather move the whole over to ING.

I'm pretty sure your incoming fund will get taxed at 15% in the growth since you became tax resident.
Alan will be around soon to confirm.

Try to put the deficit to one side. I would be looking at the after tax monies if you leave your pension fund in the UK compared with the after tax monies if you transfer your pension fund into an Australia superannuation fund.
Also, check the position upon death - it is often the case that more can be passed onto one's beneficiaries in the case of an Australian super fund as against a UK pension fund.
Let me know if you would like details of someone who might be able to prepare some computations for you.
Best regards.

Myself and my wife both have final salary pensions (18 and 10 years resp).
The question seems to be leave the pensions in the UK or transfer to Oz.
Is it worth speaking to a financial advisor here in the UK before we go over to Oz, or should it be dealt with once there?
Cheers
David
