So would I actually, my first ex went to public school in Blackpool so we used to go back there often, he knew all the haunts, good bars etc, lots of good memories......in fact thats the only place I ever went topless - in a pub, not on the beach!!

The whole series is on UKNova if you are into this kind of thing.
I have previously demonstrated I am not
So, it focusses on Surfers and the surrounds does it? Not an armed robbery to be seen I'll wager.

I feel so sorry for your brother, it must be horrible having to live somewhere like that

Yehp I think you would Like my Brothers Part of Milton Keynes in Simpson Village... you can actually see his house and one of his cars in this Wiki Pic... down past the Thatched Cottage on the right....
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...pson-m-k-1.jpg
Plus less than 300 meters from his house....
http://static.panoramio.com/photos/o...l/31944510.jpg
and his Local Pub about 600 meters away...
http://s0.geograph.org.uk/geophotos/...7_b241b6a2.jpg
Might as well add the Church seeing as it's about 150 Meters from his front door.
http://s0.geograph.org.uk/photos/20/...5_41eb3adb.jpg
All Slap bang in the Middle of Milton Keynes.... walking distance to the football ground... if you fancy a hike. Quite different from where my Parents moved to at Galley Hill Stony Stratford Milton Keynes.... Although Stony Itself is a lovely looking place. I actually commuted from there to EC1 every day for about a year until I could stand it no more and moved out of home... circa 75.

it was poms in poo the episode showing the guy helping with the flood cleanups ...
whole thing is giving a lot of poms here in the uk a very lop sided view of aus - the narrator kept banging on about how low the unemployment rate is, and how tradies can get work no worries ... yeah right!
load of tosh, and just perpetuating the myth that its easy/cheap to buy a huge/waterfront/landed property with only £50 in your pocket.

The gold coast is a great place but if you want a normal life forget it it has no soul.
Opera Plays Theatre books art galleries dont look for them on the gold coast.[/QUOTE]
This is BS. The coast has all of the cultural things you quote if you look. Activities of all kinds by all kinds of people going on every where.
lived here 5 years and don't see a tourist from one month to the next. Never go to the theme parks, why the hell would you and Surfers is somewhere you go once in a blue moon and even Mac Donalds don't force you through the door, you are free to use one of the many excellent restaurants and I imagine there are Gold Coast locals who have not been near the "glitter strip" in years. Just get on with their normal lives in a beautiful part of the world.
Having seen some Sydney suburbs even Nerang seems OK
As for the paradise bit, if your working class on an acre of land in the hinterland, with privacy, space, a pool surrounded by palm trees etc kids and dog splashing about on a Sunday afternoon the word is not that inaccurate.

Hi Steve,
any chance you can burn a couple of episodes of the show for me? Another poster is right I think in that it is a kind of porn. We used to watch all those kind of shows endlessly before we came out.
I'll bring the dog round, might forget to take it home though! a fair exchange in my book!

I can tell from your liberal use of expletives that you are an Opera buff
Dont get me wrong, the GC has its fair share of problems (high unemployment, stagnant economy / housing market) the most worrying being the crime wave which seems to be ever spiralling upwards. The is a large underclass but whether a higher % than a lot of other areas is doubtful.
We have lived here 5 years and it suits us fine - lots to do, good restaurants, so many different types of beach for walks or swimming, great weather, etc.
Each family has its own requirements and other areas may suit but for us at our stage of life it seems OK..
