Left wing governments turn most places sour 😞QUOTE=jad n rich;12414330]Hobart. Recent visit, very cool place. Mona is an outstanding gallery, more of a day trip in itself. World heritage wilderness 50 mins from city. Most improved city recently brisbane. Going doen the pan, melbourne, its my main base in but disappointing of late.[/QUOTE]

Mmmm lived in both and would choose Perth every day of the week. London is great if you're a tourist wanting to do the museum or a young person keen on the pub/club/drugs scene or maybe a member of the elite so you could hang out with the other elite but that's it. Not to live year in year out.
London was a great city before becoming so exclusive to ultra high earners and in turn less interesting.
Still a great tourist city with so much history and culture but sadly not for living.
Perth doesn't compare besides being expensive, on any scale with London. One may as well say prefer to live in Exeter (besides population differences, but Perth metro is huge and centre small)
But agree although love city life, London would no longer be in my top ten choices.

I wonder how you justify a statement such as, 'most left wing governments turn most places sour'. What does that even mean?
Any government that only takes into consideration a small segment of its population as having relevance will leave a place 'sour' as you put it.

Well sport, have been more than one or two quick visits to Sydney, but let that pass. Your getting there though. Sydney is too overpriced for the average punter. Some will pay over the odds others will the hell out. Outside of harbour views a very average city for those living in the burbs, as most do. So your rating of a successful city is one that 'pumps them in'.
Amazingly pedestrian analysis for one wanting to go places.
Amazingly pedestrian analysis for one wanting to go places.
You are really showing you lack of visits and your travelled road from the airport, to the CBD, to Bondi, and back again. So sad. There's so much you missed.
What you are failing to understand is Sydney is intertwined with MANY waterways which give it its natural beauty along with being surrounded by mountains on one side, national parks on 2 others and the coast on the 4th. No one is ever too far from water even if you are out west and if water isn't your thing, or its not the beauty you are looking for, then mountains will have to do.
I post these on one of your other threads. Here's a repeat in case it didn't sink in the first time. Most of these are not Sydney Harbour.

I'm not sure what a lot of pictures prove about Sydney? I have stated in the right circumstances I could conceive possibly living there, but in a place of choice. Not anywhere, or at any price, just because it is Sydney. I certainly don't think it that great.
Likewise Perth is hardly twenty years behind. Just a cliché that has been around for ever. Perth is a bit lame, in areas, perhaps that is where the statement derives from. And as previously stated conservative. Perhaps less so than in the past, but still there. A little inbred in places as well with too many knowing everybody .......

In answer to the above post. No it means exactly what I wrote. Why would I move to an inferior location in a 'middling' city?, due to asset over valuation. It wouldn't make sense. I can think of many world locations far preferable if in the mind to move.
You commented on Perth, I don't care, that you don't care, just should make an attempt to get it right first time. If you don't care, no wonder you post so many ill thought our comments.

I got it right the first time. A person who has been living in Perth said its 20 years behind the east coast. That's their opinion. It may not be yours. Who cares. Bottom line is its their opinion of your home.

Anyway good to know am living in the capital of cool. I suppose. Truth be known, do not live in Australia for its cities. If I want a city, I'll return to Europe, where the product is superior.

I still have no idea what 'cool' is supposed to mean in regard to a city. One person's 'cool' is another person's 'lame', no doubt. It's really just words, isn't it? As long as you're happy wherever you happen to live, then it just doesn't matter

But you choose to live in a middling city. You contunue to make no sense in this regard. You've said to me, once in 10 years, that you sort of like it, in fact.

Badge Is Back.Did I say there was something wrong with living in a middling city? Firstly, I 'don't talk' to you. Once in ten years? Do you keep a diary? Fact is for years I barely participated on this forum. Perhaps it is you not making a lot of sense?

Spouse of Scouse. As discussed previously, cool is but a PR term and every chance of being a exchange of reward somewhere along the line. It means little or nothing. But certainly is suggestive to any number of people as having some sort of meaning.
I appear not to be able to directly quote at the moment. A bit odd, but doesn't matter as will name poster referring to ...
