I haven't seen it since, I don't know if it's still there, dead or waiting to jump on me at the first occasion... but everytime I sit here, I look below my desk... 'cause you never know! |

It was quite a large huntsman but didnt bother me that much at the time ( although didnt end up renting the house!!!)
the second one was at Xmas on Bruny Island- i opened the oven door and one ( that had been dead for quite some time) fell out !!! That freaked me out more for some reason and I couldnt even go near it even though it posed no threat ( what with it being dead !!) At the moment we live in the city so we dont see any spiders but am bracing myself for facing them more when we start renovating our new house !!! :scared: Nat xx Kay x |
Re: The Migrants Guide to Emigrating and Settling in Australia
Quick question about mozzies. I am the sort of person who, when on holiday to Greece or Spain etc gets bitten to death. Don't know what it is, but the mozzies love me and have a feast. Perhaps its the fair skin but anyway....
Are the mozzies the same in Oz as Greece (or worse?) In other words is there anyone who was bothered by mozzies as much as me and has managed to deal with them or get used to them in Oz? Or are they not as bad, please tell me they are manageable in Oz. Do they vary in numbers from place to place. Ok this turned out to be not a quick question at all, but hope somebody can help me? |

I also get bitten, not funny when the person sat next to you is ignored and you end up being the living feast! I have heard that eating vegemite helps, and using Avon Skin so Soft bath oil, the original woodland one is best. |
Re: The Migrants Guide to Emigrating and Settling in Australia
Ok thats not funny i looked at that spider chart thing....
nearly sh*t myself cause every now an then the bug**ers move. was not impressed when it said about taking care you don't walkinto to one of their webs  as teh shock of crawling over your face could give you a heart attack.... :scared: :scared: :scared: I find it bad enough with spiders size of 10p coin.... anything bigger involves lots of phonecalls to ppl begging an pleading for them to help me... Now how do we get past that one eh? One of my kids is petrified of spiders too.... but i guess that would at least mean he'd stay away from them. what can you do tho? what if one of those venemous ones crawls into baby's cot or into car seat an bites em? I don't think i'll ever sleep again if we move? Someone told me a couple of years back that in your lifetime you swallow a dozen spiders on average in your sleep..... well what happens in oz i can't imagine swallowing a huntsmen spider an living to tell the tale..i probly choke an die :( that's if i didn't wake an the shock of it on my face didn't kill me. I know i sound neurotic but they scare me something chronic only to be compared with wasps.... :scared: |
