Vixen,

Yes, manners do work both ways, however we arrived there first. We sat at the end of the table that everyone had to walk past to get to the other seats. None of your bunch from the other end of the table even had the courtesy to say Hello when walking past. I did look up as you all arrived and we didnt even get a second look from any of you.

Why, on that basis should we have made any further effort?

I have since found out the Cas/HUP issue, but I didnt realise that my Hubby and I were included in that. Also I am wondering how you know you have nothing in common with us??? Just because we dont live close by nor have children? If thats all you believe is important, then I am glad I have a little more depth than you.

Anyway, its done and so am I as far as any of the "Meets".

Did you get up and approach anyone else or did you sit in a corner so that you could come back and say people ignored you? I know I spoke to several people I had not met before and very pleasant they were to. Some of them were close to me and some I talked to while walking about. I think the only time I saw you get up was when you went outside for a smoke.

As to why others than I did not speak to you I cannot say. I'm sure if you ask them or carry on trying to provoke them you will get the answers you seek.
Good morning Hup,

We sat at the end of the table as we were the first to arrive - thinking that people would then fill up the table from there - you and all of your friends just walked straight past us - (apart from Bordy and Mary) - leaving a large gap, which the new people filled when they arrived. We all looked up when you came in, but that initial acknowledgement was not in itself acknowledged.
That put us off making further attempts - although we did try to catch peoples eyes to no avail.

It was you who established that you did not want to talk to me, which I can live with - but it did seem odd that the whole group of you decided to ignore myself, Helen and her husband.
Writing on a forum is one thing - we shall never know whether we would get on in real life.

I am not trying to provoke any individual, if any members of BE are not welcome at any future meets - then perhaps the organiser should state this fact on their thread.

Crikey!! There are alot of toys being thrownout of prams here!!!!

Hubby and I hada nice time yesterday (thanks for organising it) and met up with a few people we knew and a few we didn't know. We didn't get the chance to talk to everybody but will no doubt try to 'circulate' at the next meet.

By the time we'd finished eating and could chat to people other than those immediately around us, my little girl was clearly tired and had enough. Hence it was a good time to make our exit. (Those of you who have had children will know what it's like! )

I hope no one thinks we were being rude in any way as it really wasn't intended. Please include us in the next meets.

Hi!

As far as I am concerned you were not in the least bit rude. You and your Husband were lovely and we enjoyed meeting you even though I dont think we have ever really exchanged posts on here in the past.

The reason for my initial posting was more a response to previous threads and posts from a while ago.

I hope you continue to enjoy living in Melbourne and like I said yesterday, if you ever want to check out Bendigo let me know and we would be more than happy to meet up with you.

I totally agree with Princess Atta, we had a good time, met some new people and would like the chance to meet some more! We will definately go to the next meet.

Princess_atta and Nessa

This all started a few months ago, when a meet in the west was suggested, and some people made it obvious that that they did not want to make the effort - despite these meets only being around every 6 months....

I understand that that it can be awkward if you have young children, or have other commitments - I myself often work at the weekend, but still try to go to these bi-yearly meets if i can....

It was lovely to meet you all, and I hope that you continue to enjoy your lives here.

I can honestly say that I had no input as to why other individuals came and spoke to you. They had reasons of their own I am sure. I don't like you because you made stupid assumptions about me and called me an idiot. But as I've said previously I don't take things to seriously as its a forum. I just felt I would not like you and things would be more peaceful if left alone.

I got off my backside and spoke to a few people and you sat in the corner. There were only a few people there who had met you before and chose not to do so again. You didn't circulate at all so you could come on here and be the martyr.

Its this sort of "Look at me" posting that makes me think I wouldn't like you.

You had it made perfectly clear to you why certain individuals did not want to come but you continue to poke it like a kid with a scab.

Get over yourself. Everyone is welcome at the meets. It should also be assumed that not everyone will get on. If you came to another meet I would make the same decision no to speak to you again because you have confirmed all my thoughts on you. It is entirely up to others to form their own opinions.

The thing I'd like to know is, as it appears that I am the ring leader of this dasterdly plot is how many people do you think I was their with. Besides Bill and Mary I new 3 others. Now how many people ignored you? Because there was a hell of a lot more than 4 people there. It seems to me that you want to play the matyr as well because a few people didn't speak to you. Like Caroline you sat in the corner and did not socialise which I think is a true indication of your "depth" ffs.

Firstly I must apologise for not making the meet yesterday but my son was really very poorly and he was not up to going out.

I can't believe that some people are carrying on like they are at the end of the day we are all adults but some seem to behave more like naughty six year olds. It is about time some people realised that some people will get on and some won't and there is no point in pushing things. Just leave them alone and move on.

When I first mentioned the meet I did say South East and this was not to exclude anyone but purely to gather some people from the same area together so we could discuss things that were more local and relevant.

One other thing that strikes me as odd is why some of you seem to forget that we all have freedom of choice. If people do not want to go to meets arranged in other parts of Melbourne then they don't have to. If people don't want to mix and chat with everyone they don't have to. Freedom of choice is a great thing and needs to be respected.
