Freedoms lost are seldom lightly returned. And not speaking about the freedom of movement due to an isolated incident obviously.
One needs to see the bigger picture and not to be intimidated by a single incident.
We went about our business in London regardless of IRA bombings in my area of London in a rather factual manner.
Sydney is a hostage situation not a bombing nor an air assault nor mass shootings. Let's keep the situation in proportion shall we?
It has been already stated I thought that countries involved in the conflict in the Mid East are/will be regarded as targets by ISIS and related forces.
An action creates a reaction. A price we appear willing to pay.
Far to early to say if this is related or purely a crank or someone with an axe to grind or indeed something else.
Best not jump to conclusions until further info is hopefully revealed.

I do see the bigger picture and I have for a long time, that's the problem. I can't understand why you think this is a single incident, don't you see that these types of incidents are connected by people who have the same goal?
You can't compare the IRA with Islamic extremists, they're playing a totally different ball game. The IRA have one goal, the Islamic extremists have many aimed at anyone who doesn't sing from their hymn sheet.
Remember social media wasn't present then like it is today, what people didn't know back then didn't hurt them. We get to know a lot of information nowadays, It's a different society with added worries. People are going to react differently.
Yes we have a hostage situation, which I hope gets resolved soon. The fact that no one has been shot yet, or the fact that a bomb hasn't been detonated yet, doesn't necessarily mean it won't happen or there isn't one. I also very much doubt this is a crank, there's something just not right about this ' hostage' situation, but I'm sure all will become clear.

Have just watched 3 short videos from an 'alternative' media source (ie not mainstream), in each one a different person, who identified themselves as one of the hostages, read three demands from their 'brother'
Send in an ISIS flag and one hostage will be released
Tell the world that this situation is an Islamic state attack on Australia, and two hostages will be released
Arrange a live hook up with Tony Abbott, for a 'short talk with our brother', and five hostages will be released.
At the end of one of the videos, I heard a man's voice saying 'that's it'.
May be fake? Mainstream media has been saying for hours that they have been sent videos of the hostages reading demands, but they have not released them at the request of police.
Forgot to say, the 'hostages' also said that their 'brother' requests his 'brothers' not to detonate explosive devices around Sydney yet, and that they can't understand why their 'brother's' demands haven't been met yet, as they are simple demands. One finished with 'please help us'.

Indeed. How did he ever get bail? This country gave him refuge when he sought it and this is how he chooses to repay his fellow citizens. We need a zero tolerance on these evil beings. No second chances, for them or their families.
