Re: iPhone, Nokia N97 - what else?
Most of my customers have i-phones, along with most of the guys at work. If the amount of dropped calls, dodgy receptions and phone faults are anything to go by, I will stick to my sad old Sony Ericsson. At least I can actually call folk unlike most of the i-phone users I know. Very, very average as a phone.

*shrug* Never had an issue. Call quality is usually down to the provider not the hardware.

Re: iPhone, Nokia N97 - what else?
We have blackberries - a Pearl and a bold but I just got IPhones for christmas. they are just too cool to ignore and I am sick of looking at people fiddling with them and thinking "well a blackberry is practical".
I have never heard anyone with an iphone complain - just ooo and aaaah and say look at this cool thing. I have been playing with writing little apps for one - I am going to do one when I get time (like that is going to happen). I have the idea but its top secret! |

Re: iPhone, Nokia N97 - what else?
Your in denial. Whether you like it or not - the urge will take you. Now you are a "new man" you need to upgrade all your essentials you know. Your phone says heaps about you.
I went in and said "I want 2 iphones" - they said it would be $1500 to break my contract. I said "how about nothing" - they said no but then called vodaphone and a very nice woman asked to speak to me personally. She said - if you walk out of crazy johns right now, i will send you 2 new phones for nothing". i did mention moving providers as an option to her but not a thread kind of way. What a fantastic lady - the sales man was gutted and I didnt have to extend my contract. As I said to Mr Young Crazy John - you will never guess what she just said to me - she said to just leave here and she will give me the phones, dont get upset its a mere hour out of your life.... |
Re: iPhone, Nokia N97 - what else?
Everyone in the office at my work except me has i-phones. We are all on the same network but everyone but me has garbled or dropped calls... unless I call an i-phone. I am unconvinced. I think many don't want to concede their sparkling new toy is piss poor as a phone:lol:

The iphone is way better in call quality than the Samsung ultra touch and Nokia E71 which they replaced. I think it a heady combination of phone hardware but primarily network and geography which will ultimately dictate your experience with any mobile. |

Actually my experience couldnt be more different. But I suspect its because were on Telstra. Optus, 3 and Vodafone are all notorious for call quality and drop outs in my particular area. Its something to do with the distance to the tower and topography around my house apparently.

Totally agree. Round these parts it's Telstra or nothing - all the other telcos have shite reception. Find the iPhone more powerful than my N95 and can get a signal in the parkland here where the N95 would have gone quiet.

Another *shrug* from me. I'm on Telstra, at a guess I'd say that about half of the people in my office have iPhones. None of us have any issues. Remind me what your point was?

I get that defensive attitude a lot from i-phone owners. I never really understand why they feel the need to get so prickly about it, it's just a phone.

I'm merely pointing out that a) you don't own one and b) you keep mentioning all this grief other people in your office supposedly have. If anyone was getting prickly I'd say it was Mr I'm-not-saying-iphones-are-shit-but ...
You never at any time pointed out I don't have one, that was actually me. I'm not the slightest bit prickly about it. I'd quite like one and I wanted some feedback about what people thought. There is no "supposedly" about it. You could be absolutely right about it being the network, however I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced it. There is no need to get all "Hutch" about it:) |
