Had a huge huntsman on the side of my car the other day! Came out of the supermarket and went to open the front passenger side door to put the bags in and it was sitting on the side of the door - looking VERY fierce!! :scared:
OK, I thought, I'll put the bags in the other side. Then proceeded to open the back passenger door to put my son in his seat.....when it started moving across the car!! I quickly shut the door so it couldn't get in the car (otherwise I would have had to walk 5k home) and it ran across the door and hid under the door handle!! How often do they do that? I'm now always checking under the handle to see if one has hidden there. Well, my son now has to go around and in the other side of the car! It appeared to have gone when we got home.

Also had a redback in the backyard the other week. Used half a tin of spray on it - hubby says it didn't die from the spray...but I drowned it! I didn't like spiders in the uk and I definitely don't like the ones here!

Here is my Huntsman ... :scared: .

Has already been on other threads as found it on door in house and thought 'oh! theres a toy spider on the door' then remembered we didn't have any toy spiders and sent husband into battle.

It ran up on to coving and had to be knocked off post photo but it could run like the wind must be all those bl**dy legs.

My huntsman was back on the car yesterday :scared:
Was strapping my daughter in when I noticed it just near my leg on the car - of course I yelped and jumped back, then it jumped up onto my daughters seat, she screamed and scrambled into the front of the car (luckily I hadn't finished strapping her in!) Then it crawled onto one of her toys in the middle (by this time I was on my way round the other side to unstrap my son before it got to him!) Luckily hubby was there to save the day, grabbed the soft toy and managed to throw it out onto the driveway. Had about another 5 mins of my daughter screaming and my heart pounding though! Don't know if it had been hiding under the door handle again or even if it was a different one.
I know its not good to show fear to your kids but I can't help it - they terrify me! I'll be scared driving anywhere now in case there's one in the car. At least the weather's better now so I can walk everywhere!

Ruth, I'll be like you.

I hate spiders and snakes....(god knows why I want to come to Oz). Hubby keeps saying we won't see them all the time, but by the threads on here I'm not so sure. Any advice on how I may be able to control my paranoia??

Whereabouts are you headed? This is the first time I've seen the big ones - must be the time of year I suppose! We are in a newish house and (desperately touching wood now!!) haven't had any nasties in the house..... that'll be it now I've said that - I'll be invaded!

Been out for lots of walks and not seen any snakes, seen a few small lizards. The man at the zoo said the snakes will run a mile from you anyway so I'm not so bothered about them. But those spiders - they just run so fast! Get a can of spray to zap them with and keep the car doors closed!

Well only been here 1 week exactly and we have had 2 huntsmans in our car!!!!!!!!! YES 2!!!!!!!! :scared:

The car is on loan from one of my hubbies rellies for a year and the neighbours had been looking after it until we collected it (a Toyota Prado Landcruiser) - however they had been 'airing' it by leaving the windows open on their acreage!!!!!! lol - the first one we found on day 1 - it was under the driver visor and my hubbie had flicked it down and back up and hadn't noticed so i'm screaming theres a huntsman under your visor - that got flicked on to the pavement and stepped on - it was about the size of the palm of my hand.

Since then we have had the car fully valleted so its spotlessly clean but there are more! After the first incident we have checked under visors etc religiously before getting in as i'd cause a crash with my screaming when I see one - during one of those checks I found another one on the inside driver side window - bigger than the first one (maybe the mother after all!?) - this one was jumping to get away from Marc and his chequebook which was all we had to try and flick it out - it got 'flicked' on the 3rd attempt and flew god knows where (we never found it!) but i'm telling myself it was out of the car!!!!!

I have a phobia of spiders but i'm just having to get on with it and get back in the car as we have so much to do - anyone know if there is anything I can put in car to kills any that might still be living there under the seats?

I just can't relax as a passenger in the car anymore - every time my hair touches my neck I jump!
